This file may be deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons members.svg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Sykkuno photo question

[edit]

Hi Pilaz. Just saw that the Sykkuno photo was deleted a few days ago. Since the photo was deleted on the basis of it being a derivate and that the original work was not under a CC license, does that mean all of these must go too? Same exact situation as the Sykkuno photo, though they've been able to stay on here for a few years (and I assume have been seen by deletion admins who saw no issue with them). Thanks, Troutfarm27 (talk) 09:49, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Troutfarm27. I think they are certainly eligible for deletion - I checked the Jacksfilms clip, and although it has a CC license, the original video does not. I think it might be less of a clear cut than the Sykkuno image, since the original video is not linked in the description. Regardless, the fact that it's been hosted here does not mean it's set to stay - some images and articles manage to slip through the cracks, so the fact that they have been here for years does not cement their status. This month, for example, editors found consensus to delete a page that had been created 16 years ago. Pilaz (talk) 08:43, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I know just because it has been here for years doesn't save it from deletion. The fact that they've been up for that long just made me question the policy so I wanted to make sure I was understanding it correctly. Appreciate the response! Troutfarm27 (talk) 16:08, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
