Hello, i think its easier to talk to it on my talk page. It a luck if i see ur comment. ~ bayo or talk 12:48, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed you tagged this image for speedy deletion. I removed that tag and I ask that you list it at COM:DEL instead, in accordance with COM:DG, as it is not necessarily a straight-forward matter. If you are correct (and I have no reason to believe you're not!) the image will be deleted after a week of debate is allowed. Thanks, pfctdayelise (translate?) 11:30, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if what you say is correct (and I have no reason to doubt it), the image will soon be deleted. It's just non-trivial for me to check that it is correct. Speedy deletion should only be for things that are immediately obvious. BTW, listing on COM:DEL means the reason goes on that page, rather than the image's page. Sorry if I didn't make that more obvious. I put your argument there, you can see it at: Template:Deletion_requests#Image:France_with_Corsica_.28demis.29.png (probably easier to scroll up from the bottom to find it) Thanks, pfctdayelise (translate?) 13:53, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou for bringing this to our attention! It's certainly bad to have inaccurate maps floating about. I'm sure they will be corrected or deleted (depending on which is better) soon. pfctdayelise (translate?) 14:59, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Since no one responded, I have to assume your argument blew them all away. :) I closed the debate on COM:DEL and I will (or someone else will, but I'll make sure it gets done) delete them this week. But right now it's 5am so I'm going to bed! Thanks again for your help. pfctdayelise (translate?) 17:56, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't delete them yet because they were all made by the same person, who was obviously just using the incorrect map as a "base". So I wrote them a message asking them to update their images using the correct base. I also left a message on their fr.wp account, but they haven't used it since I left my message, so obviously they haven't had a chance to see my message. I will wait a bit more to see if they come back but don't worry, I haven't forgotten. Also one of them I just reverted to the earlier version, which wasn't inaccurate. pfctdayelise (translate?) 23:47, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If there's some other dispute going on here, I'm not interested in getting involved in it. It is fair enough that User:Frombenny missed the deletion debate, because we understand that people don't check their accounts here all the time. I have no problem with Image:France with Corsica (demis).png because it has a cut. If you still have a problem with it, feel free to upload a map over the top that features Corsica but in an accurate position (ie. a larger map), or else take it up with another administrator. If the maps have a cut, that's good enough for me. I'm going to check them now and any that don't, I'll add one myself, because I've had enough of dealing with this. Regards, pfctdayelise (translate?) 10:44, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's OK. I'm not angry -- I am still grateful for your bringing the issue to our attention -- I just think I've spent enough energy on this for now. I only mention that you can contact another admin because I don't want you to think that my opinion is the end of the line or the 'official' line - it's certainly not.
Anyway I had another look at the images and they all have cuts now, I think the problem just shortly before was that new thumbnails hadn't been generated. I can see the cut in all the images now, but I'm not sure what I did to make that happen... I think they regenerate every so often, so fairly soon everyone will see the cut. If you need help on any other issue relating to the Commons, please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help if I can. Cheers, pfctdayelise (translate?) 13:40, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Departments_of_France.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Image deletion warning Image:Trento station columns.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!
