File:Queen Elizabeth delivering her 'annus horribilis' speech.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. This media may be deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:The Queen in 2006.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Hello Peter Ormond, the following content you uploaded violates one or more of our policies and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:

File:QueenElizabeth.jpg

The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works
  • commercial use
  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.

Your account has been blocked

[edit]

Note that the duration is indefinite (which is not the same as infinite) per deliberate Flickr washing. A Flickr account, created 15 January 2021, immediately uploaded two images there of a subject matter with you are focused, and have greatly struggled regarding copyright. It is not mere serendipity that you found and uploaded those images here--also 15 January 2021, of course--mere moments after their upload there. This is problematic above and beyond merely uploading copyright violations and requires a very good explanation indeed if you are to resume editing here. Critically evaluate Flickr licenses
File:Queen Elizabeth II by John Townsend.jpg has been marked as a copyright violation. You may have preserved the information shown on Flickr correctly when transferring the image here, but the Flickr uploader is not the copyright holder of this image. Either the image was created by someone else, or it is a derivative of someone else's work. As stated in Commons:Licensing, only the copyright holder may issue a license, so the one shown on Flickr is invalid. Always remember to critically evaluate Flickr licenses. Photostreams with professional-looking photographs, album covers, posters, and images in a wide range of styles or quality taken by many different cameras often indicate that the Flickr uploader either does not understand or does not care about copyright matters. See Commons:Questionable Flickr images for a list of known bad Flickr users.

Unblock request declined

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without discussion.

Request reason: "It has been four months since I was blocked. I now understand the nature of Commons and will try not to repeat copyright violations in the future. So, please unblock me. Peter Ormond (talk) 03:32, 17 May 2021 (UTC)"[reply]
Decline reason: "You still do not understand well copyright. For example you said, that files with Creative Commons license are suitable for Commons. Some of them are and some of them are not. I'm afraid, that when unblocked, you start to upload files with unallowed CC-license. At moment the request is declined. Taivo (talk) 08:09, 19 May 2021 (UTC)"[reply]

This is very vague. For unblocking you must explain, why your previous uploads violated copyright and why do you think, that your new uploads will not. Taivo (talk) 08:57, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Initially, I did not know much about Copyright as I was new to Commons. But since I have spent much time now on Wikipedia and its sister projects, I have understood the nature of Commons and copyrights. I will try my best not to upload copyrighted material on Commons. Peter Ormond (talk) 09:22, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This was also very vague. For unblocking you must explain, how do you make difference between free and unfree files. Taivo (talk) 09:28, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As I said earlier I didn't know much about copyright initially. But now I have known a great deal better. Files uploaded to Commons must be in public domain or published under a Creative Commons license with Commercial use allowed. Peter Ormond (talk) 11:56, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Oppose - This is disingenuous nonsense. You "did not know much about Copyright" because you blanked twelve (!!!) notices/warnings, including one that specifically advised you about stealing images and "pass[ing] them off as your own." (!!!) After this very specific warning, you created a Flickr account to deliberately launder images. No reasonable person, whether new or not ("I was new to Commons"), would have thought this to be acceptable. COM:BP requires an understanding of the issue and a credible commitment to discontinue. Neither are on offer here. You've neither genuinely acknowledged your behaviour (e.g., you've made no reference whatsoever to the Flickrwashing) and, only several weeks ago, you were blocked on a sister project for "addition of unsourced content" (your third block in a month, and the second time for that reason (!!!)) We do not import sanctions from other projects, but they allow us to assess credibility; you've continued to fail to respect the content of others' and project policies in the "four months since I was blocked." This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without discussion.

Request reason: "Please unblock me because the block prevents me to access research databases and collections at The Wikipedia Library. I won't use this Commons account and if I do, you can again block me permanently. Peter Ormond (talk) 20:23, 28 May 2021 (UTC)"[reply]
Decline reason: "The request has been now open for 3 weeks and we still did not get answers to most important questions: why do you think, that your new uploads do not violate copyright? For example, I declined previous unblock request due to your confusion over CC-licenses. You still did not answer, which kind of CC-licenses are allowed and which kind are prohibited. We got vague promises to comply Commons policies, but no evidence, that you know these policies. The request is declined. Taivo (talk) 07:49, 13 June 2021 (UTC)"[reply]

This editor is now editing as User:Ubuhuju, and is again uploading copyrighted images such as copyrighted artwork File:Queen Elizabeth II - 5654810509.jpg and flickr-washed File:Elizabeth II (Élisabeth II) of Canada.jpg. DrKay (talk) 19:36, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

They were published on Flickr with the right license, so that's why I uploaded them. Peter Ormond (talk) 19:39, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No. They were stolen by flickr users and uploaded to flickr without the consent of the copyright holder. You were told before about flickr-washing but you've just carried on doing it. DrKay (talk) 19:50, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
