Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

though personally I find your claim credible, others might not. To avoid further problems in the future, please send a separate permission for File:Blason saxv charente gif.gif. Go to Commons:Messages type, copy the boxed "Déclaration de consentement", enter the filename and the name of the license, add the date and your real name, and mail it from an email account visibly associated with the source website to permissions-commons-fr@wikimedia.org. Merci de rester poli. Je ne fais qu'appliquer les règles ici. Vous prétendez être le propriétaire du logo d'un club de rugby sans en apporter la moindre preuve. Jusqu'à preuve du contraire le logo est une marque déposée appartenant au club de Soyaux Angoulême XV Charente. Votre réaction est extrêmement puérile. Sachez que les droits d'auteurs sont pris très au sérieux sur wikipédia et que dans le moindre doute, le fichier est supprimé. Votre parole ne suffit pas à prouver que les droits d'auteur sont respectés. Le blason ne peut être hébergé sur commons. En revanche, sa présence est autorisée sur wikipédia.fr en raison de la règle d'exception du fair-use sur les logotypes. Vous pouvez donc importer l'image là-bas via ce formulaire d'importation. Bonjour,

Vue votre réponse, vous n'avez strictement rien compris au fonctionnement des licences sur commons. Quant on intègre une entité, quelle qu'elle soit, on se doit de suivre ses règles pas de lui imposer les siennes. Ici, c'est au contributeur de s'assurer que ce qu'il charge sur commons est conforme aux licences du site et non le contraire. Turelio vous as donné ci-dessus la marche à suivre pour rendre les choses claires et conformes aux règles de comons, en vous donnant le message type à rédiger et l'adresse email où l'envoyer (voir cette page), chose que vous n'avez pas faite... Et oui !!! Inutile donc de s'étonner que l'image soit de nouveau proposée à la suppression quand vous ne faites pas l'effort de suivre les conseils qui vous sont adressés. Quant à votre ton agressif à mon égard, il ne me surprend guère étant donnée la réaction extrêmement puérile dont vous avez fait preuve après la première suppression.
