Copyright status: File:A photograph of Qasem Suleimani.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:A photograph of Qasem Suleimani.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Copyright violations
[edit]
Hello Parsa1993.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG)
[edit]In other languages (translate this) |
---|
|
Thank you for uploading some images!
Did you know that Wikimedia Commons recommends the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format for certain types of images? Scalable Vector Graphics are designed to look appropriate at any scale, and SVG images are easier to modify and translate, helping Wikimedia to distribute knowledge to all of the world. A lot of modern programs support SVG export. If you encountered problems or have questions, don't hesitate to ask me, a member of the Graphic Lab, or the Graphics village pump. Uploading images in SVG format isn't mandatory, but it would help. (To avoid any misunderstandings, please don't just put raster images into an SVG container as embedded raster.) Thanks, and happy editing!

Your maps
[edit]Hello, about the hand-drawn maps you uploaded: please always add source information to such maps. Even if you drew the maps yourself, we need to know where you got your basic information from, i.e. what published maps your drawings are based on. This is necessary both for assessing whether the copyright situation is okay (i.e. making sure you didn't copy a copyrighted work closely enough to constitute plagiarism), and for assessing the factual encyclopedic reliability of the data represented. Please go through all your existing maps and add this information, as they may otherwise be unuseable on Wikipedia. Fut.Perf. ☼ 22:00, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message. I added two citations to the Tikrit map I drew and as for the others (Naderian wars in particular), They are merely drawing out what the article explains in full detail with all the needed citations provided there. Do you think it is necessary to add citations to the maps directly when they are provided all throughout the article? If yes please let me know.
Also as far as copyright goes, in most cases there are no maps that I could use to base my work on in the first place (especially the ones for the Naderian wars), but where there are maps that I used as part of my conceptualisation process I have cited them, just as in the battle of Tikrit article.Parsa1993 (talk) 00:33, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Parsa. I am currently banned from wikipedia but i have some images that i think might improve the "List of kings of Persia" article. The images are here: User:History of Persia/sandbox. Alot of them are low quality so if you are willing to add these images to "List of Kings of Persia" please dont add the low quality images there, thanks. I really think these images would benefit the article since it contains hundred of kings without portraits. I would really appreciate your help, thanks :)

[edit]Hey, man (....Marhaban?) The hand-drawn map, "Fallujah 2016.jpg" is very much appreciated. If it happens to be the case that other people, whether users or editors criticize your maps (as it seemed might be the case from your "Discussion" page), know that they're wrong. Although i don't know Fallujah or the Battle, i think the hand-drawn map is excellent. ~"You can take the lion off the mountain; but you can't take the mountain out of the heart of a lion"~ even if a lion has to hand-draw a map....NO KIDDEN. (ma'a al-salamah? [...forgive my ignorance of Arabic, especially if it's not your native language, either.])
PS - I intend on focusing on Geographical Informational Systems at Uni/grad school. Like G.R.A.S.S. Open source. Not as smooth as Esri's stuff, but just as effective if you have the patience for it - which is quite apparent in the case of people who hand-draw maps as well as in this case. ~29 June edit ps\ — Preceding unsigned comment added by JAGroch (talk • contribs) 01:25, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Fallujah Map
[edit]Hiǃ I saw the map of the 2016 battle of Fallujah you made and noticed it was hand drawn. So I created a digital rendering of the map in Google Sketchup, translated it into an image, and then uploaded it. I appreciate your original map, could not find any more detailed on the internet, but I felt a digital rendering would be more appropriate for Wikipedia. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Battle_of_Fallujah_2016_(digital_rendering).png PlanespotterA320 (talk) 18:16, 25 December 2016 (UTC)

File source is not properly indicated: File:Hfusa 001.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Hfusa 001.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
[[:File:Hfusa 001.jpg]] ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Wikimedia Commons does not accept fair use content.
We do this because Commons is a shared media repository. Downstream wikis have different policies based on local laws. Uses that are acceptable under US law, for example, may not be acceptable in many other countries with more restrictive rules. In addition, fair use is not compatible with our aim as a collection of freely distributable media files. Therefore, Commons cannot legally rely on fair use provisions. Non-free content that may be used with reference to fair use may be uploaded locally if your project allows this.
