User Requested deletion himself reason: wrong name

[edit]

I saw this morning that you deleted File:JSEditor image.png with the mention "bad name"... On fr.wiki, this icon was used in a template included in several pages... Can you please check if a pic is used on wikis before delete it? Thanks. -Ash Crow 09:50, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:Cacycle maked it as badname himself. I did not see, that it was still used on fr. Must have been some checkusage bug :-( Sry. --Paddy 10:02, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, I see you have protected Image:Kimi Raikkonen 2005 Belgium.jpg. The recent IP activity was me, a Wikipedia user trying to replace my own image by a better one with a better name. I'm sorry I only registered now, that would have cleared up some confusion. Could you unprotect, so that I can upload a new version? Thanks. Nick Mks 08:24, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done. --Paddy 06:49, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

If you consent for statistics to be published about your actions as an administrator, please sign here: Commons:Administrator permission for statistics. (I expect that most people will not have a problem with it unless you are especially concerned with privacy.)

Also, please be aware that we now have a Commons:Administrators' noticeboard. Please put it on your watchlist, if you haven't already!

Löschungen

[edit]

Frequent contributor to Prague galleries

[edit]

hello / ahoj Paddy,

I suggest that we use this model for all addition to galleris concerning Prague and its sub-section galleries :

Nabizim abychom pouzivali tento model pro veskere galerie tykajici se Prahu a pro galerie jeji sub-sekce :

Image:imageName.svg|{{border|[[Image:English language.svg|20px]]}} Description in English<br>{{border|[[Image:Flag of the Czech Republic.svg|20px]]}} Popis v cestine

which result is:

If you do not know Czech of the language, leave Popis v cestine empty.

Kdybys neznal anglicky, vynech Description in English prazdny.

Schnapskarten

[edit]

Categories are in English

[edit]

This is the current rule for Wikimedia Commons. It must be applied as long as it remains unchanged. If don't agree, you should find any other activity and stop to impede our work. --Juiced lemon 10:56, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Look, I have build up the category and article system and have a large percentage of my images in these categories and articles. Stop destroying what I have worked on so long. If you choose to Anglo-Saxonite the commons please do so with your own work. I have started here because it is an international project. Keep out of the category I have put much efford in. greetings --Paddy 11:38, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
With English category names, more people will access your images. That is the general aim, when users upload media to Wikimedia Commons. The rule about English category names exists for two years, so you should have known it when you uploaded your files. --Juiced lemon 12:09, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There was no rule when I uploaded them. And even if there was a rule it is silly. As long as there are redirects to the lemma, I see no necessity and no reason to move things to the Anglo-Saxon lemma. Please do somthing usefull. There are more pressing things than insisting on some community decisions, which I btw. have not read anything about on the mailinglist (which is the propper place to enforce community decisions). Praha is called Praha and not Prague, Paga, Prag,... whatever. Greetings and happy new year. --Paddy 13:15, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now that I had a deeper look at the Prague topic I see how things have been messed up. It seems to me that some people (or maybe even bots) with no knowledge of the city have build up some parts of the framework of articles and categories. If something is done as it has been it does not improve but leave people like me (who btw. do categorisation by hand) with a pile of shards. And again I see no need if there are english redirects. And to me it looks really starnge and even silly if there is e.g.: Břevnov, Hostivař, Hradčany,... and than you find [Old Town, Prague] or [New Town, Prague] in [Category:Districts of Prague] which seems wrong anyway and should be if it would be Anglo-Saxon [Category:Districts, Prague] better [Category:městské čtvri, Praha] the other being a redirect. Now I am going to the center of Prague and have cool beer U Vejvodů. cheers --Paddy 16:48, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vymačkaný citrón

[edit]

Ahoj.

--Ludek 23:50, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ornithorhynchidae-00.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. I restored the image because I know for sure that it was cc-by-sa 2.0 and only because the original author put the photo status to private, it is still no reason for paranoia and deleting. Greetings --Paddy 15:40, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Image deletion warning Image:Rechtsgutachten betr Apostasie im Islam.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Administrative notice

[edit]
Deutsch

Hi. This message is sent out to you because you are an administrator on Commons, and you made little use (or no use) of the admin tools lately: less than 5 times in the last five months.

Commons has a new policy on admin activity, Commons:Administrators/De-adminship, taken into use on June 13, 2007 (after a poll among users). According to that policy, admins who use their tools infrequently will be asked whether they still need their adminship, and if they do not respond or require them the removal of the tools will be requested.

If you feel you still need your admin tools, please sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section within 30 days from the date this message was sent out. However, if you then don't make 5 admin actions in the following 5 months, you will lose the adminship without any notice.

This is not a comment on the considerable help you have given to the project in the past but reflects the wish of the community to see active administrators and to ensure that possible security breaches are minimized.

This message is sent out by bot. If you want to give feedback on it, you can do so here — 08:50, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Hello!

Thank you for providing images to the Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.

To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.

You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on the Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Thank you. 78.49.168.214 07:01, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PD-old

[edit]

I just found you having changed Template:PD-old from 100 pma to 70 pma on 31 August 2005. This has caused discrepancies with Wikipedia and Wikisource. While not blaming you, I would like to invite you to discuss at Template talk:PD-old and Commons talk:Licensing where I consider disregarding a few countries copyrighting more than 70 pma improper as this is Wikimedia Commons, not English Wikipedia.--Jusjih 05:16, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Troubles with the Images

[edit]

I'm reading the link you put at Petar's page. When I get finished, I'm going to talk to you. Thanks for the attention. User: Gabi sawyer, 00:04, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ok, I already read the article. So here at Commons I can't upload pictures from artists, even when they are promotional, right? There is any way I can upload some pictures of them? Do I have to get a license with their label? And when I got it, how can I make wikimedia know this?

User: Gabi sawyer, 00:019, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

No promotional photos still have a copyright holder. Yes, you can upload if you take them yourself. Yes, if you get the permissions from the copyright holder (not necessarily the label) you may upload them. You can e.g.: forward an email from the copyright holder to ORTS and write in the image description your ticket number, etc. many possibilities. greetings --Paddy 03:32, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Paddy/2009-07-25. I am writing to you to inform you that because of inactivity, you may lose your adminship on Commons.

Commons has a new policy on admin activity, Commons:Administrators/De-adminship, taken into use on June 13, 2007 (after a two-week poll on the proposed policy's talk page).

If you want to keep your adminship, you have to sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section within 30 days. Note that if you don't make 5 admin actions in the following 5 months, you will then lose the adminship anyways.

Thank you,
