Hardin County Courthouse image
[edit]Thanks a lot for File:Hardin County Courthouse Ceiling.jpg! I appreciate the help of having a second image of the courthouse, as I don't think I got any ceiling pictures the one time I was in the building. And while your picture is slightly tilted, it's a good deal straighter than my pictures normally are, so probably your photo's turned out better than one I would have taken from the same spot.
Are you interested in doing more work here at Commons, either uploading images or making existing ones easier to find? If so, welcome! I'll be happy to help with any questions you have; just leave a note at my talk page (click this link) explaining what you want help with, and I'll do my best to assist. Just one thing you might find useful — when convenient, images should be placed in categories, because this helps people find the image. I've put the image into five categories: Building interiors in Ohio, Courthouses in Ohio, Kenton, Ohio, Stained glass ceilings, Stained glass in the United States. This way, someone can find the courthouse if they're looking through Kenton images, or the Hardin County Courthouse image if they're looking through US stained glass images, etc. Please note that you don't have to add this many categories! I know about more categories because I've been here for a good while, but if you can add just one or two, that's fine.
Final note — are you also interested in helping at all with Wikipedia? I'm active over there, too, so if you have any questions about that site, you can leave a note at my talk page there (click this link) if you'd like. Nyttend (talk) 05:45, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
- One quick note — signing your messages at talk pages is helpful, and it's easy: just type four tildes, i.e. ~~~~. You won't get in trouble for not doing it, but people will get confused if they see an unsigned message, not knowing who wrote it. We don't have a page about message-signing here, but en:Wikipedia:Signatures is relevant, since it's a basic feature common to the software used by both Wikipedia and Commons.
- I've done some work on Ohio county courthouses, including writing Putnam County Courthouse (Ohio) and Meigs County Courthouse (Ohio), and having photographed eighty of the eighty-eight for my own collection, I've uploaded many of the Ohio courthouse pictures that are on here. Feel free to ask me anything, whether advice on actually visiting the courthouses (e.g. parking, which is a problem for Meigs, due to Pomeroy's constricted street layout) or wiki-editing suggestions. Two other things: at Wikipedia, galleries are generally discouraged (see WP:GALLERY), so when you have a bunch of photos to upload, the best choice is normally to upload them here and then pick the most relevant one(s) to add to the courthouse's Wikipedia article; and are you familiar with Susan Thrane's County Courthouses of Ohio? It's a wonderful resource for someone like you. Nyttend (talk) 01:00, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
