Image Tagging Image:AbdAullAlTmime.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:AbdAullAlTmime.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Deletion requests for images of commons users
I'm not sure why you are tagging lots of images of commons users for deletion. The guidelines (under "Private image collections") clearly state "However, uploading images of yourself and others in small quantity is allowed as long they are useful for some Wikimedia project (for example, a Wikipedia article, a Wikinews report, a meta article, a user page)" (my emphasis). So a single image of a commons user is useful for their personal user page and hence within the scope of the project. --Tony Wills 10:35, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply :-). I was just surprised to see a spate of deletion requests. In some cases it looks like deletion might be quite justified, eg Commons:Deletion requests/Image:MyfaceRCB1.jpg where the user appears in-active and hasn't actually made any real contribution to the wikis. --Tony Wills 10:59, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Implications of omitted source in Template:Information
Hi, recently you requested a change to Template:Information to automatically categorise media to a category in case the parameter Source was empty. This was executed by User:MECU. Your request did not contain any real motivation. Do you have any thoughts on what we can actually do (or should do?) with this new thingie or does it not really add any useful information? I think this could better be moved somewhere for dicsussion, but I do not know where. Please feel free to move it somewhere more centrally available. Cheers! Siebrand 08:32, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

PD-Art
Wrt to Image:Shakespeare.jpg, please do not mark {{PD-Art}} works with {{No source since}}, as a source is not required for slavish copies of Art works, as it clearly stated on the template. Also, if a file does not have a {{Information}} tag, please consider adding it before tagging it for deletion, as that will avoid double handling and accidental image deletions. Jayvdb 15:47, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Please don’t add {{No source since}} to simple reproductions of engravings, paintings and photographys which are obviously in the public domain. Thank you. --Polarlys 17:04, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

- We need to be reasonably able to verify the copyright status of the image. That means an approximate date and an author if known, and also a source if available. The current meta data is unacceptable. -- Bryan (talk to me) 19:41, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Please give images good descriptions
Please give some thought to writing a good description of uploaded images. This ensures that they can be used. It also helps those that review and improve categories do a better job, which also ensures that images will get used in novel and interesting ways. Thanks, and happy editing!

My images deleted
Hi,
I logged in today to my account, only to find a series of notifications on images that might be deleted (and were deleted), due to lack of proof that the copyright holder released the rights. Is there any chance you can just paste the descriptions of the images on my talk page, so I can try and figure out which photos they were? Thanks in advance, Eranb 14:57, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Not amused either
I noticed you've tagged several images and I thought I should turn your attention to some issues. 1. When you tag images, please announce the up-loader about all of them. I had a feeling you have tagged more than you have announced on my talk page and sure enough, you did. 2. Many of the tagged images were paintings that are in the PD because the creator of the paintings has died more than 70 years ago. With or without the source specified they are in the PD unless you will discover a painting having a different creator whose work is not PD or if the work of the specified creator is not in the PD. 3. Another issue to consider is that providing a web link as the source of a painting is not going to help too much. For example, web pages are volatile sources therefore with or without the source specified a painting is still in the PD. 4. Some information about paintings may not be available or is unknown to the person who uploads a painting. This is not a good reason to tag for deletion all the paintings. So, please give some thought to tagging and stop tagging for deletion paintings for reasons such as: source, description, date. Thanks, Mvelam 01:44, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi OsamaK, I added the source for the image Image:Olivier van Noort.png. I hope you are satisfied. Sorry to sound so sarcastic, but you are not the first one who harassed about an ancient image. This is a PD-image because of age! There is no need to add a source to check on this.
Anyway, I doubt that anyone will ever find the book to check this, because it is an old book, and even if someone will find it, they will only find the picture and still not find the original source, so they will still not be able to check the permission, anyway. But it is PD! Because of age!!!! Please change the Commons procedures about images like this, or I will stop using the infobox, so you will not be able to find sourceless images this easy anymore! I am sorry about the tone of this message. Jan Arkesteijn 20:48, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

St. Michael image errors?
I don't have any objection to the deletion of the St. Michael image, really, as it does appear it's superseded by a better quality version. However, the image page does specify the creator as Guido Reni, and the source site as en.wikipedia, including the original uploader. You may wish to check more carefully, or if you're doing that by an automated process, ensure that it notices such things. Thanks! Seraphimblade 06:30, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Image:Fidel Castro9729.jpeg
Hello. I notice you requested deletion for Image:Fidel Castro9729.jpeg as no source. I see on the image the source listed as "Foto: Antonio Milena - ABr - vert. 56" with the "Abr" being Agência Brasil. As I don't know much about Agência Brasil, I'm not sure if that is an adiquate source or not, but it seem to me to be a source. If I am wrong, could you please give me a pointer so I could understand that? Otherwise, I would suggest instead of the "nsd" template to list it on deletion requests where feedback from many could be offered. Thanks. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 14:21, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
