images.google.com
[edit]
I've found that en:Image:RMS Empress of China 1891.jpg has "images.google.com" in its description. The images uploaded on Wikimedia Commons should always have a free license, explicitly given by the copyright holder. If you have the permission, send it to our OTRS system or the image will be deleted! This is an automatic message by Filbot.--Filnik 19:16, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:G8 Afternoon Working Session 2008.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. |

Here Commons:Email templates you find an email template to request and confirm a permission by the copyrights holder. When it is mailed back as described on that page and is accepted, it results (done by other volunteers) in an OTRS-ticket put on the respective image description page. --Túrelio (talk) 08:23, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Aha. Thank you. This was helpful. --Ooperhoofd (talk) 20:39, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Thank you for uploading the image of AVM Isitt signing the Japanese instrument of surrender. However, I am concerned that it is not in public domain as the Australian War Memorial has placed restrictions on its use. Please would you clarify this. As I am sure you know, if the image is not public domain it cannot be hosted on the Commons. It might be possible to host it on the English Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Thanks. Greenshed (talk) 21:29, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. Editors have been having a wider discussion at Template talk:PD-Australia. The problem with the Isitt image is that if it is the public domain, then the AWM cannot say:
- "The AWM allows the use of images from its online database whose copyright has expired for non-commercial purposes only on the condition that the AWM's watermark is not removed. The Australian War Memorial (AVM), however, requires that the AWM watermark is not removed and that permission be sought for commercial use."
- If it is public domain then it can be used for both commercial and non-commercial purposes and we can (and are encouraged to) remove the watermark. Greenshed (talk) 20:25, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- I don't have an immediate response at this point. I am not able to add more than has been discussed at
- It seemly likely that the following is relevant:
- A quick review of the above suggests how I should re-word the description and licensing of this image; but I won't be able to get to it until tomorrow. --Ooperhoofd (talk) 17:23, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
