File:1970 East West MLB Classic.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Dubious licenses
[edit]Hi, just wanted to let you know that multiple of your uploads have dubious licenses. The files (such as File:Koufax and Roseboro celebrate 1963.jpg) have a {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}} license even though that license is nowhere to be found. It is much more likely to be something such as {{PD-US-no notice}} or {{PD-US-not renewed}}, but keep in mind that is has to be published first (per Commons:Hirtle chart. reppoptalk 05:26, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Reppop, hello there. So I still have a bit of an issue with lisences so my apologies. I do know that where I got these from a site their use is allowed unless explicited stated otherwise (those have a watermark on them). I used the lisence that I did because most of the previous files from that site had that same one.
- Should I change all of these to "PD-US-no notice" then? Omnis Scientia (talk) 07:53, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Also thank you for the Hirtle chart. That helps, I didn't know about that! Omnis Scientia (talk) 07:54, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Calisphere is just a repository of images from other websites. The license would come from those websites where it is hosted, if there even is one. From the website's terms of use:
- Some items are in the public domain and may be freely used by anyone; in the case of other items, the contributing institution is the copyright holder and may grant permission for certain uses; for still others, the copyright owner is a third party or is unknown and users will need to conduct their own analysis (and may need to contact a copyright holder directly).
- So you can't really just replace them as they would need to a) be published without a copyright notice or b) have a suitable license if the institution was able to get the copyrights and release them. reppoptalk 19:27, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Reppop, I'll double check then and see which is correct and, if there is one which is copyrighted, I will delete. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Omnis Scientia (talk) 19:29, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
