More Philately requests

Current entry starts: "Category:Philately, Category:Post | User:Ww2censor/Recent philatelic uploads"

@Magog the Ogre: You added Category:Post for me as I requested and even though I originally had excluded Category:Postcards and continue to want to exclude it, bu having added Category:Post now I am getting a load of postcards I don't want because they are included as a subcategory in Category:Post. Is there any way to actually exclude Category:Postcards and its sub-categories even though they are in Category:Post and I would like to keep that, or would I have to list each and every subcategory to achieve that exclusion of all the postcards? I also think it best to now remove the "NO_SUBPAGE" code. Will removing that create a gallery of the existing entries up to now or start afresh? Also please add "DAYS_PER_GALLERY (31)" Apologies for all the requests; I'm just getting used to this feature. Thanks Ww2censor (talk) 23:54, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

@Ww2censor: I've made some changes. I might have to monitor it for a few days, and you will sure start seeing false positives creep up again at some point, at which time you'll have to ask for a change. There's no such thing as a category under which the bot will automatically fail even if it fits through another branch; I'm not sure you'd want that anyway because of how categories can be capricious.
The bot will start adding the gallery list as a subpage tomorrow. It shouldn't be hard to copy the format to create a January and February page to mimic it. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 04:56, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

@Magog the Ogre: Please now exclude Category:E-mail. I think I am just screwed on the postcard images. I think the only way to exclude them may be to list every country but even then they may get included because they are also a sub-category of Post by country. I am correct in that assumption? Perhaps it might be better to exclude the Category:Post altogether but include the sub-categories I want which are likely to be less than 30 but may no gather some items. I appreciate your thoughts on this as the current setup gives me loads more postcards than all the other images I am interested in. Sorry to be a pain but hopefully I get it right soon. Magog the Ogre Thanks for pointing that out but I did indeed read it and there may be a few occasional false positives from Postal organizations but the majority appear to be from Postcards and I don't see any postcard subcategories under Postal organizations other than " Postcards of post offices in the United States" which I am happy to record, so I,m really not sure that this is the main culprit. User:Chumwa/OgreBot/Potential transport maps bad categories

The User:Chumwa/OgreBot/Potential transport maps gallery managed by OgreBot includes Category:Network diagrams, which is a huge category and is causing tons of random crap to end up in the gallery. That category should have depth=1 or depth=2 added to it, or else there should be a ton of blacklisted subcategories (Category:Sociograms, Category:Semantic Web, Category:OSI model, etc etc). -IagoQnsi (talk) 21:02, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

@Magog the Ogre: Actually, it's not my gallery -- it's just a gallery that every image I upload seems to get added to. Adding Category:Sociograms, Category:Semantic Web, Category:OSI model to the "omitted category" list is probably the best fix, since it'll eliminate a lot of false positives without removing any actual transport maps. -IagoQnsi (talk) 20:04, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

Removing subcategories

Is it possible to remove subcategories from a gallery category? If so, I want images in Category:Basin and Range Province and no other categories related to Oregon removed from User:MB298/Oregon. MB298 (talk) 03:36, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
