Hi from New Orleans

[edit]

Welcome from me as well. Thanks for your photos! Are you in the Greater New Orleans area? I seldom get to the West Bank anymore - more photos would be very welcome. Cheers ! Red beans & ricely, -- Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 17:55, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Yes, I'm in the Greater New Orleans area. I do have quite a few more photos I took yesterday in Westwego and more from other places I have visited. I will send more in soon. I wanted to learn the process of it all before I send in more. Thanks for contacting me. Nutriawood (talk) 18:53, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. I've been here for years and am an admin, so if you have questions about Commons you have trouble finding answers for, feel free to ask on my talk page. Cheers, -- Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 19:01, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Great to know you're an administrator. I may have questions concerning putting in details and descriptions about the photo. Thanks again Nutriawood (talk) 19:12, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Trouble

[edit]

it seems I'm having some difficulty with all of this. Should I be categoring my uploads in the Nation Register of Historic Places? Should I be getting a lot of editing on what I send in? I'm a little bit puzzled by it all. Thanks Nutriawood (talk) 22:20, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

When it is a place on the National Register, it should be categorized - if there is a category for a particular place, add to that category, if not yet, for more general category like Category:National Register of Historic Places in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana - try to categorize at least by state, by city/town when possible. Of in addition to places on the National Register, useful general views of cities, towns, parks, locations etc are also welcome if they are reasonable illustrations. I and some others have been doing some edits on your uploads - because you are a new user uploading good quality useful images (Yay!) and we're eager to help out while you're getting the hang of things, until you can take care of details yourself. Again if you have specific questions, ask. Thanks again for your good work! Cheers, -- Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 00:11, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your help and support! Nutriawood (talk) 10:59, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
File:Katrina aftermath.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

WikiProject Louisiana on Commons

[edit]

I noticed there did not seem to be a branch of WikiProject Louisiana on Commons, so I've started one. Category:WikiProject Louisiana. Your participation would be welcome. Thoughts and comments on improving coverage and organization of Louisiana media on Commons is welcome on the talk page.
