Dunham classification photos - copyright status
[edit]In case you do not return to Talk:Dunham classification on English Wikipedia, below is a copy of my reply to your message on Talk:Dunham classification about the set of Dunham classification photos that you uploaded to Wikimedia Commons on 24 February 2017.
- Very good photos but I want to comment on their copyright status.
- Their descriptions state "Picture by courtesy of Axel Munnecke, Geozentrum Nordbayern... Source: Own work ... Author: NikelsenH".
- The relationship between Axel Munnecke, Geozentrum Nordbayern and NikelsenH is currently unknown to all users of Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. I suggest that some proof needs to be sent to Wikimedia Commmons, proving that all the owners of the copyright for these photos give their permission for any use that is compatible with a CC-BY-SA-4.0 licence, including commercial use.
- I suggest that you read about how Wikimedia Commons uses its OTRS system to prove copyright permission.
- Also, I want to clarify that the author is usually the person who actually took the photos, not the person who put them on Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commmons.

- Thanks for the Help, the permission E-mail should follow anytime soo. I am not a regular user of the commons, so sorry for the fuzz. --NikelsenH (talk) 07:00, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
Good. I think the photos will be very useful for Wikipedia articles about carbonate rocks, after the copyright status has been confirmed. GeoWriter (talk) 14:29, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
