Thank you for your work on the image. I made some comments on its page so you or someone else can change a tincture.2601:40F:4001:D760:4C16:C9D6:E62C:BBB2 01:57, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The bright magenta or hot pink color in this image looks rather unheraldic (and unaesthetic). Are you sure that it's included in your source (and if so, that it's a good source)? -- AnonMoos (talk) 22:47, 8 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The source is from the website of the diocese itself HERE; the colour calls for purple. It is true that the colours do not match very well. I shall change the shade shortly. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Ng556 (talk) 02:02, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK -- I think that traditionally heraldic "purpure" is commonly somewhat restrained (e.g. File:Tinctures.svg etc.). It's rather annoying to have to work from a small blurry GIF... AnonMoos (talk) 19:02, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, I changed the file but it still appears magenta on thumbnails. Your thoughts? Ng556 (talk) 05:28, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's a caching problem. I "purged" and it now looks OK for me; you may need to reload in your browser to see the new PNG versions... AnonMoos (talk) 15:02, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that the knot on that image is quite a bit simpler than on the source image at [1]. The knot there would be too ambitious for me right now, and it will probably take me a while to work up to it, but I've uploaded what may be an acceptable substitute at File:Quasi-Celtic-ornamental-knot-49crossings-inrectangle.svg... -- AnonMoos (talk) 15:02, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No reply after two days, so I went ahead and made the substitution... AnonMoos (talk) 17:22, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I tried doing it myself but I was unable to bet the image out correctly; half of the lines were missing. Ng556 (talk) 03:06, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks but ...

[edit]

Thanks for File:Coat of Arms of Cardinal Adam Joseph Maida.svg but there's an error in the Latin. The middle word should be "omnia", not "omina": the meaning is different. Could you correct it? Andrew Dalby (talk) 08:49, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, done... AnonMoos (talk) 19:43, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks AnonMoos and thank you Andrew Dalby. While I know some Latin, it is obviously not my strong suit. Ng556 (talk) 00:56, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That was very fast. I assume that you're not familiar in croatian language. If you want, I will write you correct phrases, and you correct it on coat of arms. Please, let me know here where you are finished, and I will gladly check all phrases and write you correct one.--MaGa 19:31, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Is it possible to make labels on pictures in croatian ortography? For example: label in this [2] picture is not good. It should be written "Kroz nevolje u kraljevstvo Božje" instead of "Kroz Nevolje U Kraljevstvo Božje". The difference is in upper case of first letters of the words. Thank you for your answer.--MaGa 06:53, 28. studenog 2012. (CET)

Ng556, can you answer on question above? Thanks again.--MaGa20:13, 30. studenog 2012. (CET)
Not a problem. I shall finish it before the start of the week. You may wish to check the other Croatian coat of arms HEREto see if they are correct. Thanks!Ng556 (razgovor) 20:23, 30. studenog 2012. (CET)

If you could, that would be appreciated. Also, If you could, please move continue this conversation to my English Talk page because I do not go on the Croatian page. Thanks. Ng556 (razgovor) 21:38, 30. studenog 2012. (CET)
As I said, I will gladly do it. I will write you here (instead on hr.wiki), and when you are finished with drawings (in one, two, five... days) please just leave me a message that you are finished on my talk page and I will write all corrections here (or where you want), OK?--MaGa 20:55, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of the Year voting round 1 open

[edit]

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Cardinals Coat of Arms

[edit]

Original message.

Hola!

Source indicating that it is yellow:

translated message online

Hello! Since online translators are not perfect, I propose that it is best to leave messages on our own language, your English and in Spanish I, then each takes the original text and passes by at least two different translators online, results are compared, where a translator fails the other can do it better. Messages should be simple so that the translator understands well.

The first thing I recommend is to set the tone of the colors, you use two shades of red, two shades of blue, two shades of green. I recommend you use tones Workshop Heraldry Spanish Wikipedia [6], if you do not like, find your own ringtones, analyzes these ancient armorials: 1, 2, 3.

The motto is written in capital letters, font type printing or as we say in Colombia "in letter detached". All official versions of the shields are in capital letters, examples: [7], [8] The motto should not be written in lower case and not in italics.

I guess some shields are based on an official description and other shields are based only on images from trusted sites. When you guide with images, always look there are all versions of weapons of each character. For example your version of the shield of Cardinal Newman's wrong, is not white, it is actually yellow, look at the sources that I found so indicate:

Dear SajoR,
Yes. Writing in our own language is best.
To respond to your comments: In the English Wikiproject Heraldry, there are no official tones for the tinctures. It is the choice of the artist to select the tone. For the Mottos: The motto does not necessarily have to be in capital letters nor do they have to be in block letters. That being said, I am changing my font for all of my coat of arms. For the coat of arms of Cardinal Newman, I discovered the error about a week and a half ago. I had made the corrections to my master file on my computer. It was when I looked at the Wikipedia page for Cardinal Newman that I discovered you had changed the file to your version of his coat of arms. In the future, if you come across an incorrect coat of arms, it would be best to first tell the artist of the mistake so he can have the chance to change it.
Which brings me to my second point, I would be appreciative if you revert back the pictures you switched. As an artist, I am sure you understand my point; we all want our own work displayed and I hope we can come to an understanding together. Thank you. Ng556 (talk) 02:48, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

--SajoR (talk) 08:12, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late reply, my computer is broken and replying on a mobile phone is quite difficult.
To respond to your comments: I am aware that many heraldry projects in different languages have suggested tintures, but the English heraldry does not. That, being said, I am open to any suggestions where a different tone might be better. If you find a blazon that looks unpleasing, let me know. I am more than willing to accommodate for suggestions. Additionally, the tones are but suggestions in the projects; they are in no way considered to be sacrosanct.
I agree in regards to the Coat of Arms of Cardinal Ouellet that they are incorrect. That being said, the issue I have is that you took no steps to inform the artist of the error. As you did with Cardinal Newman, you simply changed image. Furthermore, You also changed the version by [[:File:COA qc cardinal Marc Ouellet.svg|User talk:Odejea]] in the French version of Wikipedia. A version that was correct. This is not the first time you have changed versions to your version, even when they were correct.
I implore you to undo your changes to the Wikipedia pages where you switched coat of arms. I have no issue with you doing your versions of coat of arms to articles that have none, nor do I have issue with you replacing .jpeg versions, but please refrain from removing other artist's works for your own. It is inconsiderate. If you have issues with the representation, contact the artist. If the artist does not reply, then feel free to replace it, but do not replace the version without, at least, trying to contact the artist.
I hope that we may come to an understanding.

--Ng556 (talk) 01:51, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

--SajoR (talk) 04:24, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I had forgotten. Thanks for bringing it up. However, as it stands, my computer is currently broken. As soon as it's operational, I'll fix it. That being said, I am going to switch all of my orthography to capital letters; this way, I can please everyone. Sorry for the delay. Ng556 (talk) 00:44, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Coat of Arms of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Québec City

[edit]

I think there is an error in your version of the coat of arms of Ad. Québec. As presented on the website of the archdiocese [18], there are only 10 tassels on each site of the shield, not 15. Further I think the coulour of the galero should be green (like an archbishop) without the golden twine spun into (like a patriarch). Would be great, if you could change it as you seem to be quite smart in creating pictures for wikipedia. --Heraklitcnl (talk) 16:58, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Anglican Diocese of Quebec

[edit]

Greetings! I've been admiring your work, especially your ecclesiastical heraldry, and was wondering if you might be willing and able to take a crack at creating a digital version of the arms of the Anglican Diocese of Quebec, an older and low-res version of which can be found here: http://www.quebec.anglican.org/Templates/Diocesan%20Crest.jpg

Looking forward to hearing from you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fatherbruce (talk • contribs) 01:19, 05 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

File:Sûreté du Québec Flag.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
