Hello, NawlinWiki!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Salam. Mən və User:Vugar 1981 və digər bəzi iş yoldaşlarımız eyni IP-dən istifadə edirik. EnVikidə Vugar 1981-nin bloklanması nəticəsində bizim IP-də bloklanmışdır. Sizdən blokun götürülməsini xahiş edirəm. Və yaxud da mənə Ipblock-exempt istifadəçi hüququ verməyinizi xahiş edirəm. Təşəkkürlər! Hörmətlə, Cekli829 (talk) 08:31, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments 2012!

Dear NawlinWiki,
Thank you for contributing to Wiki Loves Monuments 2012, and for sharing your pictures with the whole world!

Thanks to the participation of people like you, the contest gathered more than 350,000 pictures of cultural heritage objects from 36 countries around the world, becoming the largest photography competition to have ever taken place.

You can find all your pictures in your upload log, and are of course very welcome to keep uploading images and help develop Wikimedia Commons, even though you will not be able to win more prizes (just yet).

If you'd like to start editing relevant Wikipedia articles and share your knowledge with other people, please go to the Wikipedia Welcome page for more information, guidance, and help.

To make future contests even more successful than this year, we would like to invite you to share your experiences with us in a short survey. Please fill in this short survey in your own language, and help us learn what you liked and didn't like about Wiki Loves Monuments 2012.

Kind regards,

the Wiki Loves Monuments team

Admin

[edit]

Hi! I think it would be good if you apply for adminship here on Commons. You could nuke Sefproduction and vandals like him/her without having to tag files. Just a thought. I'm happy to nominate you, just drop me a line. :-) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 01:27, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so. The low edit count here might be a problem for some. Well, what the heck. Let's give it a try. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 03:13, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The damage is done. Maybe you could add some thoughts and in addition officially accept the nomination? Commons:Administrators/Requests/NawlinWiki --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 03:26, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Censorship on English Wikipedia

[edit]

NawlinWiki, I see that on English Wikipedia, you have added the name David Cawthorne Haines to the edit filter list. Not only was the oversight decision horrendous and totally against policy, but you are preventing discussion of the issue entirely on that project. This is pure censorship on your part. *Facepalm*

Please remember this when you RfA on Commons in future, if you do decide to, but this is an example of a very poor decision by yourself which will lead myself, and others too perhaps, to oppose any RfA in the strongest possible terms. Please think about it. russavia (talk) 23:25, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

 • I figured that was you from the odd IP locations. To my understanding, the debate is *about* whether to allow that name to appear on Wikipedia. I tend to agree that the oversight decision was wrong given the extensive reporting of the name in news sources, but I am not going to unilaterally go against the Oversight Committee. And I don't expect to be here enough to ever submit another RFA here. NawlinWiki (talk) 00:43, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media was probably deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Patricia Minaldi.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (:File:Patricia Minaldi.jpg).

If you created the content yourself, enter Own as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, GFDL or Cc-zero to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!
