Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Copyrighted logos

Hi. Please do not upload copyrighted logos - see Commons:Licensing. Wpedzich (talk) 12:04, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Logo art is copyrighted by whoever created it (or holds the copyright to it - in this case it would be Liberty Direct HQ). I can see no chance to upload the logo as it is - you would need to upload it under a free license (Commons accepts only such licenses), but since you are not the author / copyright holder, how can you decide about free-licensing this file?

The permission would have to be given by the copyright holder and that is the requirement we cannot jump over.

Logotypy i zdjecia produktów

Zdjęcia produktów są mniejszym problemem, logotypy już - pokaźniejszym.

Jeśli zrobiłes zdjęcie - abstrahując, dajmy na to samochodu, to można to uznać za zwykłą fotografię obiektu użytecznego, informacyjną, nieniosącą zagrozenia reklamiarstwem. Wstawić ją mozesz jako zdjecie zrobione przez samego siebie, bez większych problemów z pozwoleniami. Weź choćby taką kosiarkę, czy tego typu flaszkę za przykłady - ot, zwykłe zdjęcia. Problem tylko, jesli ta grafika była już gdzies opublikowana, dajmy na to w materiałach na WWW firmy, wtedy konieczne jest pozwolenie.

Logotyp firmy - ja zawsze przestrzegam przed ich ładowaniem, a szczególnie przed udostępnianiem ich na wolnej licencji. Hipotetyczna sytuacja - właściciel firmy wydał zgodę na opublikowanie logo na wolnej licencji, pozwalajacej na kopiowanie, rozpowszechnianie, modyfikację i sprzedawanie tej grafiki. Takie są wymogi wolnej licencji, przed ktorymi uciec się nie da. W rok później wykoślawione logo spółki jest sprzedawane na koszulkach w Sopocie, a właściciel nie moze nic zrobić, bo wyraził zgodę na wolną licencję z jej implikacjami. Jedyna sytuacja, to logo które jest dość proste, nie spełnia wymogów "minimum oryginalnosci" - tekst plus proste kształty, jak np. Microsoft, czy General Motors. Zerknij jak opisana jest ta grafika, jakie użyto szablony. Jednak coś takiego budzi moje zastrzeżenia, bo nie ma tu zgody właściciela, przesłanej i oznaczonej w systemie OTRS na takie... hm, dosć skomplikowane designersko logo. Zgoda właściciela prawa do logotypu w przypadku bardziej skomplikowanej grafiki jest konieczna - zerknij na Commons:Email templates, żeby zobaczyć, jak taka zgoda ma wyglądać. Ponownie jednak, przestrzegam przed nadawaniem przez właściciela wolnej licencji dla bardzo pilnie strzeżonej własności intelektualnej - identyfikacji firmy i jej marek.
