Re: Milosevic picture deleted?
[edit]Hello, would you be able to give me the exact name of the image I deleted? Or else the URL of the page I removed it from? I delete a very good many things so I need some help narrowing it down. Thanks. --pfctdayelise (translate?) 00:57, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- OK I found it. It was Image:Milosevic_sudjenje2.jpg. The reason it was deleted is because it's a crop of another image, and that other image is sr:Слика:Milosevic sudjenje.jpg which as you can see is marked as copyrighted. There was nothing in the image description that said "Slobodan Milosevic official portrait from http://www.slobodan-milosevic.org/images/milosevic-1.jpg which is fair use and also it is not copyrighted", I'm not sure where you got that from. It's a rather contradictory statement anyway: if it's not copyrighted (why?), then it's PD, so no problem. If it's fair use, it might be copyrighted, and couldn't be uploaded at Commons anyway. Hope this clears things up. Thanks, pfctdayelise (translate?) 01:22, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- You are talking about this edit, right? Have a look at the image name. I removed Image:Milosevic_sudjenje2.jpg as I explained above. pfctdayelise (translate?) 08:55, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- That's a contradiction. Fair use only applies by definition, to copyrighted things.
- I don't know the rules of sv.wp. You should ask them there, or possibly Commons:Bybrunnen (Swedish Village pump). pfctdayelise (translate?) 11:08, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
(I just explained fair use and that it's not allowed on Swedish Wikipedia to Narcissist) /Grillo 14:42, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:1919-Trotsky_Lenin_Kamenev-Party-Congress.gif has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Image Tagging Image:Swedish_election_poster_1928.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Swedish_election_poster_1928.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. You've uploaded a derivative work | We're sorry, but Image:Ayn Rand - Atlas Shrugged.JPG has been marked as a copyright violation. Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Narcissist. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Narcissist~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
