If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Pay attention to licensing
|
Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content: images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose.
File:Samuel-Harrison.jpg seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file. If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.

- @Stefan4: I can't really find out what would be the best license note, but this picture have been taken before 1842 for sure. --Myloufa (talk) 13:17, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
File:Vickie Gendreau.png has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

- @GreenMeansGo:
- Please send that to User:Bull-Doser who's the original author. Honestly, you may delete that picture if you want, it's just one of the many horrible pictures that that person uploaded... --Myloufa (talk) 19:59, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- EDIT: I just saw that you already did send that to him... --Myloufa (talk) 20:00, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, sorry. The script that nominates it (as far as I know) sends a notification to anyone who has ever uploaded any version of the file. GMGtalk 20:19, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- No problem, I understand that! --Myloufa (talk) 00:22, 12 December 2019 (UTC)

COM:RFD
[edit]Hi, Myloufa. Wrt this comment you should know: Request for deletion: "The debates are not votes, and the closing admin will apply copyright law and Commons policy to the best of his or her ability in determining whether the file should be deleted or kept.". The highlight is mine. You can re-nominate the file for deletion if you don't agree with the closure, of course, but IMHO the resolution was pretty uncontroversial. I may add your croppings of files uploaded by Bull-Doser do not align with COM:OVERWRITE guideline. I mean, you should create a new file instead of overwriting. Cheers. Strakhov (talk) 14:14, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Strakhov: That makes sense! For the cropping thigny, I don't see why I wouldn't overwrite a picture that is unusable because it's too tall. I understand that you don't overwrite files that are in use in multiple articles when you want to use a smaller version or only a part of it in another article, but for those, it's a one-article picture that is just too tall.
- --Myloufa (talk) 14:20, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- Because cropping an image "35 % horizontally and 68 % vertically" may be considered a "major change", and major changes should be "uploaded as a new file". If you don't agree with this, you can search for Community input regarding "cropping" here: COM:VP, maybe I'm the one who is wrong. Cheers. Strakhov (talk) 14:26, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Deletion requests
[edit]You have been opening many deletion requests with the text “Won't be used on FRWiki”. This is not a valid reason for deletion. Commons files are used in other places too.
You also mention that the files are low quality. This may be a valid reason for deletion. But if we do not have any better files, then we should keep the ones we have, even if they are low quality. Brianjd (talk) 15:17, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Brianjd: The files that I nominate for deletion are usually not used anywhere. For the reason, it's for the community to decie if it will be kept or not (althought it seems really easy to pollute Commons with trash picture and to have them kept). --Myloufa (talk) 22:30, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Myloufa: The file description page only shows Wikimedia wikis, but any wiki can use a Commons file. If it is true that no Wikimedia wikis are using a file, you should say so in the DR. It helps the community discuss whether to keep the file or not. I don’t understand why you mention frwiki specifically. Brianjd (talk) 07:37, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Brianjd: Mostly because it'S the only Wiki where most of these people have an article, but yes, I should mention that it's not used in any Wiki. --Myloufa (talk) 12:24, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- Comment Commons is a repository of free media - whether its used on a wiki or not is immaterial. Others may use the file elsewhere on the web. Not being used is not a valid reason for deletion Gbawden (talk) 12:08, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
Éric Nolin.jpg
[edit]If its not him, prove it and rename it. It is likely the work of this uploader. I can't find evidence that it isn't Gbawden (talk) 12:08, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Gbawden: I'm not saying that it's not his work, that clearly is. But when I'm looking at other picture of Nolin on the internet and then at that one, that doesn't really match. If he did mistook a lookalike for Nolin, that's kinda hard to prove it, especially if the person on the picture is a nobody.

Thanks
[edit]Thanks for modifying it. I do vote for delete. I'm sorry i made that little mistake i've been here for just a couple months. So thanks. ;) --ILoveCocomelon Ho Ho Hoǃ 14:47, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- @ILoveCocomelon: No problem, that's not a big deal, we all do small mistakes at some point. I'm happy you were not upsetted by that modification, I know that it could have been percieved as a bad thing by some. --Myloufa (talk) 15:55, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
