File:Scientists in Antarctica.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

The claimed copyright violation found here is that this photo also appears on my personal website (mtpa.org.uk) but as the current queue to register this is 73 days (Commons:OTRS) I don't think I will bother. Just to be clear I am not in violation of surreptitiously copying my own photos. When I uploaded it to wikimedia I said 'own work' and I meant it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mtpaley (talk • contribs) 19:17, 01 October 2016 (UTC).
- Hi, you must read and follow the instructions written at "Licensing images: when do I contact OTRS?". Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 19:34, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
- Sent a email to OTRS but look at the source code for 'mtpa.org.uk/Antarctica19981999/index.html' and you will see that it is my page. Mtpaley (talk) 19:55, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
- Yes I know, I found the page, this is exactly why I deleted the images... they had not a free license.... and everybody can say they are mine. This is why we require a free license at the source (if you add a free license at you page (e.g. "these images are licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, so the file will be undeleted, and the others be uploaded) or we require from the author an evidence he agree about the publication here by sending a mail to OTRS. If the OTRS volunteer accepts your statement the files will be restored. Please note that OTRS, like Commons, is all volunteers, and, also like Commons, is badly understaffed, so it may be several weeks before the image can be restored. - mtpa.org.uk suitably modified with a license. Mtpaley (talk) 20:29, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
- great, thank you, images restored. Christian Ferrer (talk) 21:03, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
