File:Breakers on The Shore at Playa del Rey.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Further, the author/photographer granted me permission to put it into public domain images and other media files for use by anyone, for any purpose.MoyeWicks (talk) 17:51, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
I have been working with the guy who photographed and gave me these two images. He wrote me the following:
“I grant Thomas L McMahon (aka Moyewicks) sole ownership and the exclusive copyright to these images [“Breakers on The Shore at Playa del Rey” and “The Duck Pond at Playa del Rey”]. I acknowledge that by doing so I grant anyone the right to use the work in a commercial product or otherwise, and to modify it according to their needs, provided that they abide by the terms of the license and any other applicable laws.
I am aware that this agreement is not limited to Wikipedia or related sites.
I am aware that I always retain copyright of my work, and retain the right to be attributed in accordance with the license chosen. Modifications others make to the work will not be claimed to have been made by me.
I acknowledge that I cannot withdraw this agreement, and that the content may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project.”

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Thanks for uploading File:The Duck Pond at Playa del Rey.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

There was a poll here in Playa del Rey as to which image should be used on the various websites we may be associated with. There were 88 respondents and more than two thirds voted for the Duck Pond. That is the reason I am so interested in getting this out and posted. I color corrected it, cropped it and re-posted it to the group for final consensus. We reached consensus. What I uploaded is the net result. Breakers on the Shore came in second place; it is the backup image and/or might be used elsewhere on public pages. I am in a number of international patent pools on behalf of Microsoft, Broadcom and Dolby (and myself) and know quite a bit about intellectual property rights.MoyeWicks (talk) 00:02, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

@Magog the Ogre: Message I hope you can bear with me. I really can't tell what I am doing right or wrong with these two Playa del Rey images. I can see them but am deathly afraid to reference them until I am absolutely certain that they are not going to be deleted. Thanks. 104.32.127.58 23:25, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
