Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:53, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

your speedies
[edit]Hi Mopar89,
could you please add a rationale why you do want your car images, such as File:02 Century Int 1.JPG, have deleted. --Túrelio (talk) 07:20, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletions
[edit]I saw a nomination for a speedy deletion due to your wish of a file renaming. Please read Commons:File renaming and follow the procedure described there. An uploader request is a valid renaming reason, no need for deletion there. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 13:42, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- Mopar89Btw did't nomination for a speedy deletion but a normal deletion, he could ask for a speedy deletion by reason of original uploader request. But as Grand-Duc said above, file renaming request would be the best choice in such a case. --Tomchen1989 (talk) 02:51, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- @Tomchen1989, a look in the file history will show you that previously Mopar89 had indeed tagged all his Buick images for speedy. --Túrelio (talk) 08:29, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ah.. Why changed?.. Obviously no need to discuss. --Tomchen1989 (talk) 09:11, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- It was changed because "I want" is no speedy-reason. --Túrelio (talk) 09:12, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Deletion request
[edit]Many of your images are tagged for deletion, can you clarify why you want to remove these images...and if there is no copyright problems image can be there for ever...Kalarickan | My Interactions 18:26, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
