Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:20, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Maps
[edit]Hi, i noted that you uploaded a lot of maps in SVG format, in the future it could be a good idea to upload theese maps in Category:SVG maps to make easier for other users to find some blank canvas for their maps. Tahnks.Ciaurlec (talk) 11:15, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll make sure I use that category in the future. Mirrorme22 (talk) 19:55, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
2016 UK EU referendum local voting areas map
[edit]Hi there, thanks for fixing that slight problem with the Walsh councils, I think just lastly I believe the Gibraltar border needs ajusting to show that it's an international border as well is just a local border and also could A separate map be created of its so that we actually have one featuring all the local authorities within the United Kingdom outside of Northern Ireland. 1983 UK general election map
[edit]Hello - just noticed this seems to be wrong? It shows Norwich South red for Labour, when the Conservatives actually won it in 1983? Angmering (talk) 20:32, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, I have corrected the map. Thanks Mirrorme22 (talk) 18:46, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
Area results (South East England) - Winchester
[edit]Hi, regarding File:2019 European Parliament election in the United Kingdom area results (South East England).svg, where did you get the results from? Specifically, I cannot find a local result for Winchester anywhere, not even on the local authority's own website. --Redrose64 (talk; at English Wikipedia) 07:55, 1 June 2019 (UTC)
County council election result maps
[edit]Hi, I see that you have uploaded several maps of pre-2001 County Council elections (e.g. File:Lincolnshire County Council election, 1981.png). May I ask where you found a map/source of the ward boundaries? I'm working on filling out maps of old local council elections but I can't find any maps/sources for pre-2001 County Council elections. If there's a resource out there that would alllow me to create and fill out some more maps of old County Council elections I would like to know about it. Thanks. The- (talk) 11:10, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
1918-1945 maps
[edit]Hi Mirrorme22!
I noticed that you've created a lot of SVG maps for the UK elections but that the period between 1918 and 1945 only have PNG versions, created by another user. I find your SVG versions very useful and was wondering if you have any plans for this period?
Thanks! --JMPhillips92 (talk) 22:17, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
