- First, this is not Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a web service available at www.wikipedia.org. Secondly, WikiCommons has a lot of rules. You are not allowed to upload anything you find on the Internet, you can only upload images with permission from the photographer, to put it simply. Every image must have a copyright tag and a source who can verify the copyright status. Only administrators can delete images, although administrators work for free on their spare time, so they shouldn't be given more work than absolutely necessary. pictures
[edit]I tought wikipedia was the owner of wikicommon , and the rules about pictures on wikipedia were the same on both. I know about copyright. And now i know about personal pictures.
Thanks a lot about your explanations.

Missing sources
[edit]I must remind you to add sources to every single photo you upload. Other people must have opportunity to check that you really have permission to upload the images. If you are the photographer, please say so explicitly, eg. "I took this photo".
Images with missing source information may be deleted. Thuresson 16:54, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
License problem
[edit]Hi, I noticed that you downloaded Image:PPlaquecloseup.png from NASA and licensed it under GFDL/Creative Commons. Material from NASA are in the public domain and you can't claim that you own the copyright on NASA's works. You seem to have the habit of taking other people's works and claim you own the copyright, is that correct? The images listed below were uploaded by you without sources. Please add information to verify that the photographer have licensed these photos under GFDL. Thuresson 20:51, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi! Nice to see that you appreciate that photo. Is it so lovely, isn'it? Greetings from Italy :-) --Kal-El post here! 14:35, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

File:ProconsulZICA.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:51, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Mateuszica. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Mateuszica~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
