User talk:Mastermindsro~commonswiki
Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.--EugeneZelenko 16:49, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Romanian-Sphinx.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Romanian-Sphinx.jpg. This image is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or send an email with copy of a written permission to OTRS (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org).
Unless the permission information is given, the image may be speedy deleted after seven days. Thank you. Polarlys 20:40, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- What do you mean? If you don't trust just ask the author at the given source address! Is that simple, if you're bad intented I'll upload that photo like self-made with permission from the author! You're so subjective.... He gave his permission via Flickr mail (inside messaging system) so how ca I prove that? Just ask him if you'd like! All my photos with no exception are made by me or uploaded with permission from the author an fully credited, I'm not playing with this stuff! Ask the people! Mastermindsro 18:59, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Here's a couple of proofs as I suppose you don't want to ask the authors... This is private messaging so I cannot provide you with link because you must login with my user name on Flickr...So here's the screenshot with my inbox and the messages to and from the authors: http://i10.tinypic.com/6hdv0om.jpg http://i17.tinypic.com/66e5mpg.jpg http://i5.tinypic.com/6aiu6vc.jpg http://i9.tinypic.com/6gtd1c1.jpg . I hope you're satisfied... Mastermindsro 19:23, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- So just forward this e-mail exchange to the address Polarlys has given above, clearly stating to what image on Commons this applies to. The permission will the be archived, and a note will be made on the image page where to find that archived permission. Lupo 08:16, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- I can't forward anything because it's private messaging on Flickr (not yahoo mail) and not sent through normal email... To see the messages I have in my inbox you must login with my user name and password which obviously I can't give you that... Hope you understand the situation... Same goes for Image:Bucharest-Hotel-Union.jpg. Pruneautalk 16:38, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Could you provide proof that you have permission, or ask the user to change the license on Flickt. I won't delete it now but if you fail to respond/provide proof I will have to delete it. (Also, without proof, different admin will probably delete it very soon) Anonymous101 talk 16:42, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
You may use the permission template on Commons:Email templates to get the permission from the original photographer. --Túrelio (talk) 20:12, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

File tagging File:Clock Tower, Sighisoara, Romania 2006.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Clock Tower, Sighisoara, Romania 2006.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Clock Tower, Sighisoara, Romania 2006.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Mastermindsro. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Mastermindsro~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution.
