File:DIPECHO project in El Rama.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

- On Flickr, the photo was listed with a CC-BY-SA licence, but no big deal and it is better to erase if there is any uncertainty. Martinogk (talk) 00:42, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
Reminder: Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2016 is open!
[edit]You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2016 Picture of the Year contest.
Dear Martinogk,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.
In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.
Thanks,
--Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee 08:41, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
File source is not properly indicated: File:Juigalpa Parque.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Juigalpa Parque.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
[[:File:Juigalpa Parque.jpg]] ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Flickr2Commons
[edit]I have just come across a few images you have recently uploaded from Flickr. I would appreciate it if in the future, you used the Flickr2Commons tool. This tool allows images to be moved to Commons from Flickr without having to download the images to your own computer. It also brings in the largest resolution of the image, as well making sure to list the correct license and url, making it easy for the automated Flickr Review system. Also, it is fairly easy to categorize images with this tool. Elisfkc (talk) 13:22, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for this suggestions. I appreciate it. Martinogk (talk) 15:38, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
How to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category
[edit]When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available or {{SD|C1}} if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused. In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page, as you did at Category:Churches in Ocotal. ("C1" and "C2" come from Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion). - Yes. Added Quezalguaque. For the remaining four municipalities, I have not found an image with a creative commons license that allows me to upload it to Wikimedia Commons. Martinogk (talk) 03:40, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
Year category
[edit]Good day. I noticed a few times for example [1] you removed the year category. That this is from 1984 in Nicaragua seemed relevant to me, so I restored the category. However if you think this category shouldn't be included on this photo, could you please explain why? Thanks for your work. Cheers, -- Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 16:25, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
