- Hi Martialist. The images you uploaded, if I remember correctly, were not freely licenced. While wikipedia accepts non-free images, the wikimedia commons does not. If I tagged them as a copyvio, it was because of one of:
- They did not have a suitable licence - the commons accepts only flickr images using cc-by and cc-by-sa
- I doubted the flickr licence for some reason, for instance if a photo clearly came from a magazine it would be a copyvio, even if uploaded under cc-by.
- I could not find the image on flickr.
I don't know which applies to your photos, since frankly I have tagged a lot of photos as copyvios in the last week. I am not an administrator, and did not delete your files, nor do I have a copy of them on my PC. If you feel the deletion was in error, please explain why and reupload. They will only be deleted if there is reasonable doubt as to the authenticity of the upload's copyright status. -mattbuck (Talk) 10:34, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Tombeau-Napoleon.JPG
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Tombeau-Napoleon.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hi. Thank you for your recent message on my talk page. Firstly, please remember to sign any comments you leave with four tildes (~~~~). Regarding the image which I deleted, this was because you stated on the image page that "this image is not free and has special authorization for wikicommons applications". All images uploaded to Wikimedia Commons have to be available under a free license which allows anyone to use them in accordance with the license. Your comments suggested this wasn't the case with this image. You tagged it with a Creative Commons license, where and when have Palboy agreed to release the image under this license? I'd also appreciate it if you explained in more detail about your suggestion that the legal case regarding the magazine cover means the cover is available for us to use. - Image:Jessycaexterior.jpg. Where is this image from considering that you've uploaded it twice now and the information differs? Adambro 20:25, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

The statement from PLAYBOY is not satisfactory, it is clear that the company has not agreed to release the image under an acceptable license and I've therefore deleted it. To quickly respond to one of the points raised in relation to this image, it is used under the legal defence of fair use on the English Wikipedia and I understand that fair use is only allowed in a few limited circumstances on the French Wikipedia which wouldn't allow this image to be used unless it is available under an acceptable free license; unfree images can't be hosted on Commons. If you took this photo could you please explain how it appears at http://www.flickr.com/photos/18591758@N00/94753844/? Thanks. Adambro 21:57, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
