Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

I saw your note on User talk:Ellin Beltz. There is an email address, permissions-commons@wikimedia.org, used for confidential emails. My advice is to write to the committee, at that address, stating you are the child of the painter of the paintings in question, and that you inherited the painter's intellectual property rights, or that you had the authorization of the individual(s) who had inherited the intellectual property rights, so your upload was not done in violation of the intellectual property rights of the intellectual property rights owner.

Physical ownership of a painting would not give someone the right to publish an image of it.

Hopefully the questions they would ask of you, to prove that you were the painter's child, would be reasonable.

The committee member who reads your email is supposed to open a "ticket", which will contain all the correspondence, between you and the project, about these paintings. There is a tag that can be applied to the discussion, that says the committee is working with the uploader to establish whether you did have permission to upload the works. This should put a pause on the deletion, to give the committee time to complete its correspondence with you.

If the committee member concludes you have established you had authorization from the owner of the painting's intellectual property rights owner to upload the image a different tag would be placed on the image, with the ticket number, saying it had been proved that the image in question had been uploaded by someone with the appropriate permission.

Let me know if you need help understanding what I wrote here.

Oh! I am not finished. I checked out es:José Pizarro. Each wiki gets to establish its own guidelines as to which articles get deleted, and which get preserved. But I bet your dad's article would be more likely to be preserved if you added more codes to embed references within the article itself.

I added inline references to the first two paragraphs. But I was just guessing at the relevance, as I don't speak Spanish. I hope someone knowledgeable, who does speak Spanish, can help you.
