First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel irc:wikimedia-commons #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], which produces: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper
Made a mistake?
  • Did you want to rename or move a file? Simply upload the file again and mark the old one like this: {{bad name|correct name}}

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.

To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.

You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Hallo MSagel, die Bitte um Widerherstellung deiner Dateien hast du an falscher Stelle gestellt, ich bin wahrscheinlich der einzige der sie dort jemals finden wird da ich die Seiten beobachte. Die richtige Stelle für eine Bitte um Wiederherstellung ist Commons:Undeletion requests. Dennoch kurz zu File:AFP-Cover2.jpg (Jhg.9/Nr. 27, Thema: Südafrika) und Image:AFP-Cover1.jpg (Jhg.8/Nr. 25, Thema: 50 Jahre Ghana):

  • Commons hatte keinen Beleg für eine Freigabe durch den Urheber. Sollte das möglich sein bitte eine Erlaubnis an OTRS senden. aber:
  • Wesentliche Bestandteile des Bildes sind wiederum Photos die wahrscheinlich Urheberrechtlich geschützt sind. Bildrechte dritter sind also nicht auszuschließen da die dem Magazin eingeräumten Rechte wahrscheinlich auf diese Publikation beschränkt sind. Auch der/die Urheber der Fotos muss einige Rechte unter eine freie Lizenz stellen, kommerzielle Nutzung und Abwandlung muss jedem erlaubt sein, oder die Bilder müssen Urheberrechtsfrei sein. Diese hatte mich auch dazu bewegt die Bilder am 26. Dez. zu markieren.
  • Die Erlaubnis darf sich nicht auf Wikipedia beschränken. Der Aussage: "diese Datei in die Wikipedia Seiten einzubinden" entnehme ich, dass dir nicht bewusst war dass die GFDL jeder Person und jedem Unternehmen Jedwede Weiternutzung ermöglicht, auch kommerzielle Nutzung oder Abwandlung durch Bildbearbeitung.

Sollte eine Freigabe unter diesen Bedingungen möglich sein bitte diese an OTRS senden, Rückfragen beantworte ich gerne soweit ich das kann. Gute deutschsprachige Auskunft gibt dir auch wikipedia:de:Wikipedia:Bildrechte. Viele Grüße, --Martin H. (talk) 10:02, 17 February 2009 (UTC) Oh wow! Vielen Dank. WArum ist das bloss immer alles so kompliziert bei Wikipedia? Es könnte doch wie bei Ebay einfach eine e-mail geben auf die man dann antworten mit einem vorgefertigten Formular etc. Ich habe das nun unserer Leiterin des Vereins weiter gesendet. Natürlich haben wir ein grosses Interesse dass man dort unser Logo und das Foto von VEye Tatah findet, allein schon wegen der Presse. ABer ich glaube diese beiden Bilder hier waren nur die Magazin-Cover oder? Ich kann sie hier nicdt mehr anklicken. Es geht ja um Werbung für uns. Spiegel oder Stern udn Focus haben ja auch Fotos drin. Also: Vielen Dank für die Hilfe. Ich werde nun diesen Text dort mal zusenden lassen, aber ich denke dann haben wir immer noch nicth das Logo oder? Die Bilder sind alle absolut frei, es darf damit so viel gemacht werden wie jemand möchte. Es war eben für Wikipedia gedacht und natürlich weiss man, dass die Leute das dann auch weiter verwenden.
