Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:09, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

File tagging File:600px_Culori_Rapid.png
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:600px_Culori_Rapid.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

Copyright violations
[edit]
Hello Luciandrei.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |

File source is not properly indicated: File:Raul_Jijia.PNG
[edit]This media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Raul_Jijia.PNG, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
:File:Raul_Jijia.PNG ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Pictograms
[edit]Hello Luciandrei ! I see you have drawn pictograms for infoboxes in wrestling, fotbal, etc. I wonder if you'd be so kind to draw the same for baseball (based on ), as I don't have the skills to do it myself. Thanks--Banderas (talk) 16:25, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- I've created the pictogram:--Luciandrei (talk) 14:53, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you very much Luciandrei !--Banderas (talk) 18:18, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Luciandrei, following Banderas request, we are collaborating in standarizing all the infobox pictograms. The idea is that all of them shows as fotbal, baseball or handball ones. As it's a hard work I ask you if you can show me how you did them, and i'll work on them. As you can see they are now a complete mess, with different versions and types. Hope you can help me with that. Thanks, --Brgesto (talk) 09:16, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- I've used Inkscape to make the header because it's easy to use. To start i've created a rectangle (fill color aaaaaaff and applied a linear gradient) to which I have added the white pictogram. For the pictograms I've used the images from this template Olympic pictograms because they are in the public domain, simple and recognizable.
- To help you I've uploaded this file File:Pictogram infobox baseball.svg to use as a template. If you want to create new ones just replace the pictogram for baseball with the one you want.--Luciandrei (talk) 19:08, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- So kind of you Lucianderei, realy apreciate it. Thank you very much! --Brgesto (talk) 22:03, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hello again Luciandrei, sorry for the inconvenients I'm carrying to you. I've followed all the instructions that you gave me, but as you can see when i replace the pictogram it's shown without the transparency. How can I do it so it shows as yours?. --Brgesto (talk) 13:37, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
- I've made the same pictogram in inkscape File:Picto infobox archery.png and i have uploaded mine over yours and it is transparent. I'm guessing you didn't download the svg versions of the files. If you try to create files directly in png it will not work. Do the replacement in inkscape and save at the end the file as png.--Luciandrei (talk) 16:45, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
- I've created them in Inkscape using the SVG ones. When finished I saved them as SVG. The problem is when I try to save them in PNG (with the CAIRO PNG option in Inkscape), the transparency dissapear, so I keep them as SVG. Do they work propperly as SVG?. Again, sorry for all the work. --Brgesto (talk) 15:33, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
- In the romanian wikipedia I see that we use a svg pictogram like this:
.antet.monument {background: url("//upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e3/Monument_istoric.svg/40px-Monument_istoric.svg.png") no-repeat top right;}
- So I'm guessing it should work in other wikies.--Luciandrei (talk) 20:12, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Copyright status: File:Picto infobox baseball2.png
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Picto infobox baseball2.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Reminder: Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2016 is open!
[edit]You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2016 Picture of the Year contest.
Dear Luciandrei,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.
In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.
Thanks,
--Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee 08:42, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
