Date
[edit]Hi Louisajb. There seem to be a problem with the date format you use (see my fix). You might want to use --
. You can also use Commons:Upload/Chemistry. --Leyo 13:01, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Hi, I do use the Uploads Chemistry. I think what has happened is that I was only typing over the 'CURRENTYEAR' etc rather than subs:CURRENTYEAR. Louisajb (talk) 13:09, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 12:49, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

The factual accuracy of the chemical structure File:Monoctanoin.png is disputed
[edit]Dispute notification | The chemical structure File:Monoctanoin.png you uploaded has been tagged as disputed and is now listed in Category:Disputed chemical diagrams. Files in this category are deleted after one month if there is no upload of a corrected version and if there is no objection from the uploader or other users. Please discuss on the file talk page if you feel that the dispute is inappropriate. If you agree with the dispute, you can either upload a corrected version or simply allow the file to be deleted.
In all cases, please do not take the dispute personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! --Ed (Edgar181) 21:02, 21 December 2011 (UTC) |
SVG Firefox problem
[edit]Hi Louisajb. There seem to be a problem with most (all?) of your SVG files with the unit of font-size you use (see my fix: font-size:200px
). Firefox needs the unit defined for correct interpretation. --91.66.179.113 18:11, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- I've been wrangling File:Salinosporamide A and B.svg, which does not have any font-size attribute. Adding
style="font-size:100%;"
to the top-level<g...>
container seems to fix the display of that file in my local browser. Leyo, which file are you working on? Assuming a universal type of fix is possible, is "edit these svg in the following way" a possible bot task on commons? Louisajb, what program(s) are you using to make these files? There's clearly one or more technical problems in them or how they are being used together, would be good to figure it out and prevent others from getting into this same mess. In general, the number of levels of scaling and other attributes in the svg seems to make it un-necessarily difficult to help resolve these types of general problems. DMacks (talk) 21:10, 1 January 2012 (UTC)- It would be a possible bot task. DieBucheBot (currently inactive) did some stuff like this. --Leyo 15:35, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
The image needs to be corrected: Under R & S Allococaine, it says "Allocaine", which is not the same molecule but rather a name for Procaine, the anesthetic. 66.243.212.138 01:22, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit]My guess is that the structure Chem-drawn has the following flaw - the Sn-N=C=S linkage is probably linear. The M-NCS group usually is. Not a crisis though.--Smokefoot (talk) 13:40, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
