This image was emailed to me directly by Enrique Meza through his son Enrique Maximiliano Meza. Both of them gave me the authority to own them and upload for use on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. I did not grab this image from the internet or from a previously published source. So, I see no copyright violation.
- First, with your upload you said that you are the author and that you, the copyright holder of this work, grant anyone, worldwide and not only Wikipedia, the permission to reuse this work anytime, anywhere for any purpose including commercial purposes as long as Lord777 is credited. Thats incorrect - you are not the author nor the copyright holder - and most likely not ok with the copyright holder who dont want to see the work sold for commercial purposes with attribution only to Lord777 and without payment to them.
- Second, the copyright holder is not Meza senior or junior, the copyright belongs to the photographer or the photographers employer, e.g. MEXSPORT. The copyright holder and not anyone else - not you and not Meza - must voluntarily agree to a free license that allows anyone to reuse the photo anywhere, anytime for any purpose including money making purposes without further payment or notification with the only allowed restrictions 'attribution' and 'reuse only under the same conditions' (Share Alike/Copyleft). See Commons:Alcance_del_proyecto#Debe estar bajo licencia libre o en dominio público.
- Summarizing, is it correct that you got this completely wrong for ALL your uploads? That you are not the author («Fuente: Trabajo propio») of any of the photos you uploaded contrary to what you asserted with your uploading? Is there any free license from the copyright holders? --Martin H. (talk) 15:15, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- I guess you are right concerning the three photos and MEXSPORT, etc. However, the Mezas did send the three to me. But most of the other photos, I had an imput because at one time or the other, I took them with Meza junior and senior camera. So, they had them in their files and then later emailed them to me last this week after some months and years. So, in a way, that's why I mentioned that I own them having taken most; and left it with the Mezas. Basically, the Mezas prefer these photos I uploaded to be in the public domain. That's what I can say for now. I am grateful too for the valid issues you raised.
- The first step must be that you go through all your uploads, remove false information (source and author) and add the correct source information and the correct author/photographer information. Then we can see what to do. --Martin H. (talk) 12:42, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 11:08, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

April 2014
[edit]Sorry, but I'm afraid I've had to delete all of your uploads from April 2014. The website ([1] you took these images from is not the original website for those images, and accordingly the copyright statements on it are not valid. I have spent the last hour identifying the original websites and it appears the operator of the photo album at Care2 is locating random copyrighted photographs on the internet, cropping and adjusting the brightness on these images to make it harder to identify the original source.
Accordingly, please do not upload any further images from the Care2 site you have been using, and if you are responsible for creating these cropped, adjusted images, please be aware that this does not prevent us from identifying the original source website and identifying copyright violations, it just slows us down by a minute or two per image. Nick (talk) 17:26, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, Nick, for your excellent service on Wikimedia. Please, do know that I do personally accept your points in good faith and respect for you. But also note that the Jaja Wachuku Family Album on Care2 that you mentioned does have their original family photos not published before anywhere or on the web or even in print.
Also, note that you should, please, kindly restore the Chuku Wachuku.jpg photo that you deleted because the subject is still alive, and even participating in the ongoing Nigerian National Conference, as you can verify from citations and news sources. Importantly the Chuku Wachuku.jpg image I uploaded is purely my own original creation from the original hard copy print taken by me. So, I don't know why you should delete it, saying that it was "created after subject's death." What kind of reason is that? Alternatively, with respect, I'll upload the Chuku Wachuku image again because it is purely my own personal photography work.
Well, thank you again for your excellent service on Wikimedia. Your message on my talk page is really taken in good faith and respect to you! Have a blessed day! Lord777

Thanks for uploading File:Enrique Max Meza U17 Coach Cruz Azul 3.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |
Moonriddengirl (talk) 10:32, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
- I see you indicate above that these were sent to you by Enrique Meza through his son Enrique Maximiliano Meza. I'm afraid that we need verification of license to retain them. You also need to change the descriptions on these images as they indicate 'own work' and you,the uploader, are not the photographer. The photographers name should not link to you.
- In addition to permission for the above, permission is needed for:
- Because of the legalities here, these formalities are necessary - the "form letter" above explains how to accomplish it.
- Evidence is also necessary for File:Darren Walker by Brokaw Photography.jpg. If you can provide a link to the image where it exists on that website and to an explicit license or release of copyright, that will satisfy this requirement. Otherwise, Mr. Brokaw will need to contact the Wikimedia Foundation with this release. Again, directions are above.
- There are a great many other images of this player that you indicate you took yourself but that are puzzlingly low resolution for a user uploaded photographer, such as File:Enrique Meza Jr Tacuary Player 1.JPG and File:Enrique Meza Jr Tacuary Player 2.JPG. They have no photographic metadata. Were these also given to you by the subject? If you are the photographer, do you still have the full size originals to verify this? This is particularly concerning because this image, which is similarly low quality and lacks metadata, has a visible watermark in the lower left corner - these are frequently placed on press images. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 10:32, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
Dear Moonriddengirl, the truth is that these photos are "Own Work" because I took them myself. But Mixed-up Author description in the relevant pages. Author should have been me Lord777 on the description pages. I've already corrected the Author entry on the relevant photos. Also, concerning the Tacuary photos and Santos Laguna stadium photo, etc., note that I took most of these photos without a digital camera and gave the paper prints and films back to Enrique Maximiliano Meza at that time and went back to my base in Geneva: Switzerland. It was some years later that Enrique Maximiliano Meza sent me back these Tacuary photos as scanned images, and I worked on them for my Wikimedia upload - so this could explain why there are no photographic metadata on these photos in question.
On the the Darren Walker File:Darren Walker by Brokaw Photography.jpg photo, I'll forward appropriate email as indicated to me by your colleague Nick
Thank you so much, Moonriddengirl, for your valuable time, and commendable service on Wikimedia. Lord777

This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Jaja Wachuku HMFA Nigeria UN Security Council 9-December-1964.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File copyright status
[edit]Welcome to Wikimedia Commons. While everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the project, one or more of your file uploads had missing or false information regarding its source and copyright status. Please note that Wikimedia Commons takes copyright rules and infringement very seriously. Files may only be uploaded and included if their copyright status meets the conditions stated in our licensing policy, and if their provenance is clearly documented. Files that fail to meet those conditions may be deleted, and users who fail to meet them may be blocked. Please follow our first steps, if you haven't already. If you have questions, feel free to ask at the Village Pump copyright question page or on my talk page. Thank you. --Pierre cb (talk) 14:31, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Michael Abiola Omolewa.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

File:King Josaiah Ndubuisi WACHUKU of Ngwa-Land 1A.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |
