Thanks for uploading File:Map of the EU Diaspora in the World.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Good morning Linus Hagenbach! Would you add Colombia to the map of Vietnamese diaspora? "https://colombians-of-different-heritages.fandom.com/wiki/Vietnamese_Colombians" accoring to the fandom, it says 8,410 Vietnamese migrated to Colombia. 49.145.44.233 21:45, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Maps

Oh my...... you have literally copied me. − Allice Hunter (Inbox) 05:50, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Allice Hunter Sorry Sorry Alice, I just wanted to update the maps. And there are cards that are very wrong and I would like to help you and it hurts me that you delete my cards please. Alice undo that. Linus Hagenbach (talk) 19:31, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Linus Hagenbach: the maps whose projection was not changed means that they need to be updated and fixed with new sources (we are not supposed to use Joshua Project here). If you update the maps I won't have how to know if I am using the new sources in them. In addition, in most of your editions you didn't say exactly what you changed and didn't provide sources for the changes. If you'd like to get the maps updated I'll ask you to tell me what needs to be changed so I can fix it properly. I hope you understand. No need to say sorry for copying me, I'm glad I am an inspiration for you somehow. − Allice Hunter (Inbox) 19:51, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Colombian community map

[edit]

Hello! — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 181.53.38.118 (talk) 22:19, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I was checking out your map about Colombians and I just couldn't help but wonder... Is there really any sizeable Colombian community in Senegal or Haiti? What?

Could you please indicate where did you get this info from?

Also, there are less than 100k Colombian nationals living in Ecuador as of now. The map might require some fixing. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 181.53.38.118 (talk) 22:19, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Diaspora maps

[edit]

Hi Linus, I stumbled over your diaspora maps. Some recommendations:

  • Please document your source data, as the IP user above already mentioned. In some maps I can see links to Wikipedia articles, but those may not always be up to date (just very old data, or even different data sources mixed together); and the links always point to the current articles, not the version you used. Unless you plan to update all of your maps constantly, that will lead to lots of confusion.
  • Please categorize your uploads correctly. I put all these maps now into "Category:Diaspora maps of the world, and also moved Allison's maps into that branch. They all have the same common type.
  • Please consider using diagrams instead of colors. Check out en:Choropleth map (or de:Choroplethenkarte): The point is that this mapping type describes density and not absolute numbers. A big area like the US with the color for 10'000 looks much more significant than a small area like Luxemburg with the color for 1 million. If you use diagrams instead (differently sized circles), you can not only stop using color-classes and use proportional circles instead (sized by area, not radius!!), but you also avoid the density fallacy. A different but also good idea is this one! @Allice Hunter: this is also a reminder to you ;-) Scientifically spoken, Choropleth maps using absolute numbers are bad maps. --Enyavar (talk) 13:42, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Azerbaijani

[edit]

Hello, before that you made a demographic map of Azerbaijanis. Because Azerbaijan is too dark on the map (Azerbaijanis in Iran live in Iran more than in the Republic of Azerbaijan), it was not accepted in the English Wikipedia. Can you imagine a new map? Thank you. Azeri language (talk) 20:22, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please fix this map?

[edit]

File:Map of the Uzbekhs Diaspora in the World.svg is subject to discussion on English Wikipedia because it incorrectly counts Bukharian Jews as Uzbeks (they are not - they are recognized as a completely separate ethnic group by the Emirate of Bukhara, the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, and independent Uzbekistan).--KazyKazyKazakhstan (talk) 17:03, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can you update map of Montenegrin diaspora?

[edit]

There are many countries missing. If you could update it, it would be nice Desemeus (talk) 09:28, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

File:USA German.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
