Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

A golden border (50 mm) and fringe must be. It is a form of the statute. Link on description [1]. A flagstaff side is usual on the left, at present on the right. Probably a lion with white color inside will be better. Photo of the Standart is on the president site [2].

I looked for images of Standard in net. The lion in the center really much differs from the image on the Emblem of Tajikistan 1992-1993 ([3] [4]). According to law Standard of President is embroidered, but the printed version ([5]) is used also. I have corrected and slightly increased images of a lion in center.

Solar beams on flag isn't triangles, but lines (see links on photos above). The printed version of flag simulates embroidered (it can be seen on the printed version [6]). Therefore drawing element of image of flag should have dark borders at least. Leonid 2 (talk) 15:11, 24 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A communication problem

Hello Leonid 2,

I am having trouble with the Russian Wiki article about nordic walking (http://ru.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Скандинавская_ходьба&action=history). The history of nordic walking has changed, as I am currently dealing with the plagiarism issues surrounding it, then I know what I am talking about. In 1997 Marko Kantaneva wrote an article called "Sauvakävely", which was believed to be the first documented academically liable evidence of nordic walking, however, little did we know back then that he had in fact copied and based his entire article off of a 1979 handbook by Mauri Repo, a teacher in a school (http://tul.fi/Liitto/InEnglish.aspx) where he used to study. The process is currently on going and will soon move to court, but as I was also deceived by Mark and I simply want to stop his spread of false information ASAP.

Now why I am writing is because some editor in the russian wikipedia keeps removing my edit (not to mention the Russian Wiki needs three (3) checks in the first place, which means Marko article will be approved by the end of the summer if we're lucky. The reason of removal is that my edit is apparently worse (since I remove Marko's picture as well), but the editor refuses to get in touch on the talk page, simply keeps deleting the edits and since I do not speak Russian, it is very hard for me to operate in the Russian Wiki. Oh, but the article is in Russian, I had it translated with my personal funds.

Herb of Perloja Republic

Yea, later I found out, what this coat of arm was not known in government. But in this place it is used unofficially. During this university there was and flag with it. misleading spaces in filenames

You have uploaded a few flags with misleading space just before extension of filename. I found them in Sumy Oblast, Luhansk Oblast and today in Chernivtsi Oblast.

In your Special:Contributions/Leonid_2 I found many other misleading spaces in most of "your" files. Could you be a bit more carefull when you're uploading new files.

It is problem of Wikipedia. The loader does not allow the download .svg files if there are other image formats (any .png .gif .jpg) with the same name. So I have to add a space before the extension for preserving the continuity of names. Screenshot to prove.
