Picture of the Year voting round 1 open

[edit]

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Welcome, Dear Patroller!

Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi Laberkiste,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons. --Steinsplitter (talk) 10:30, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please give images better names

I noticed you've uploaded File:152505 original.jpg and I thought I should draw your attention to a common error. Please give uploaded files meaningful names. Otherwise they are difficult to track and it is hard to tell what the file is about without actually looking at it. I suggest you rename your image with an intuitive name that describes the file itself. Thanks, and happy editing!

You have been blocked for a duration of 3 days

[edit]
You have been blocked from editing Commons for a duration of 3 days for the following reason: Intimidation/harassment: COM:ANU#User:Earnest B and then continuing on User talk:Pokéfan95.

If you wish to make useful contributions, you may do so after the block expires. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may add {{unblock|(enter your reason here) ~~~~}} below this message explaining clearly why you should be unblocked. See also the block log. Unblock request declined

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without discussion.

Request reason: "You have blocked me (Laberkiste) for 3 days for alleged Intimidation/Harassment, just because I discussed the application of the AGF policy with a user on his talk page, after he got edgy on AN/U. What is harassment about this? Sure, I was not too polite, but this was totally OK given what he wrote to me before. Or is this just another case of Commons admins wanting copyright infringement to occur?--Laber□T 13:09, 7 May 2016 (UTC)"[reply]
Decline reason: "Your disruptive behavior in the last day is not acceptable at all. That included abusive mass deletion request, adding wrong tags to files and continuing a closed AN/U on a users talkpage in a very unmwellow way. Three days block seems fine, so you can read and study the commons polices. If you continue with your bad edit pattern we have to patrol your edits again, which means that we have to revoke your patrol flag. --Steinsplitter (talk) 13:14, 7 May 2016 (UTC)"[reply]

Viele Grüße, AFBorchert (talk) 14:05, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked

[edit]

After nominating thousands of valid files for deletion and other disruptive deletion requests including a previous block (including block evasion) you won't learn. You just recently nominated a file for speedy deletion which has been kept previously per community consenusus 1 and you nominated COM:INUSE files for deletion 2. The fact that you completely ignored @AFBorchert: comment is also explaining itself. --Steinsplitter (talk) 14:35, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request declined

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without discussion.

Request reason: "Obvious abuse of admin privileges. --Laber□T 14:42, 11 May 2016 (UTC)"[reply]
Decline reason: "Your recent deletion requests were disrupting. You should know that you should not file speedy deletion requests for files already kept in a DR. You are free to relist a file but then you should take time to elaborate why a file should be deleted despite the previous discussion and decision. And mass deletion requests with a out of scope rationale should be done with care. Cases like Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Facebook are a waste of admin resources. I see no indication that you address this. Instead you claim that your block would be an “obvious abuse of admin privileges”. You do not even take the time to elaborate what kind of abuse has taken place. It is common practice to block users who are on a tour of disrupting edits. In cases like this, this has to be stopped first before discussions can start. And given that you did not reflect on the previous block (see my comment above), it appears unlikely that a talk page message would do the trick. Unfortunately! In summary, you gave no rationale in your unblock request that would allow me to unblock you. --AFBorchert (talk) 15:04, 11 May 2016 (UTC)"[reply]

Not to unblock-admin: I think that the block schould be extended or changed to indefinitely, the unblock reasons confirms my assumptions that the user won't change his behavior. --Steinsplitter (talk) 14:45, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Unblock request granted

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, and one or more administrators has reviewed and granted this request.

Request reason: "While admins may not agree with my style of proposing files for deletion, I still need this account for file uploads. Since I know the applicable policies, I would not upload files that do not belong on Commons. If my deletion requests are seen as unhelpful I can stop file patrolling, which would be limited anyway since I have no patroller rights anymore. --Laber□T 10:16, 17 May 2016 (UTC)"[reply]
Unblock reason: "Unblock granted under very specific restrictions; consider the user "topic banned" from patrolling files, nominating them for deletion or speedy deletion as well as their related areas. If vandalism is witnessed and speedy deletion is required, it can be reported at COM:AN/V. This topic ban will remain in place until July 18, 2016 and if the need to appeal it arises, it can be appealed at my talk page or the administrator's noticeboard. While other areas are fair game, the user is encouraged to limit their activities to constructive areas like file uploading or assisting with the Commons backlog. If in violation of this topic ban or unconstructive behaviour becomes an issue as determined by an administrator, an indef block is appropriate and will not be viewed as "abuse of admin privileges" (see previous unblock request). By editing after being unblocked, agreement to these restrictions will be implied. ~riley (talk) 19:54, 18 May 2016 (UTC)"[reply]

Sobre a imagem a ser apagada

[edit]

"Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not." Asking for unblocks while being blocked

[edit]

Hi Laberkiste, please do not use IP addresses while being blocked. You are always free to ask for an unblock (as before) on this talk page and you are also invited to ask for a block to be reviewed at one of the administrative boards. Multiple unblock requests are permitted, in particular if the concerns raised before in a decline are addressed in a subsequent request. Alternatively, you are free to send an email to the support team, asking to post a message. If you have any further comments regarding this thread opened by you, feel free to post them here and I (or someone else) will copy them to that discussion (or refer to them). Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 06:16, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@AFBorchert: I want to add a comment for the "User problems" page. First, AIV reports and blocks of established users are more common on the German Wikipedia than one might expect. I don't want to give a specific example because that could be seen as unfair by the user in question, of course. Secondly, the second block request on the German Wikipedia was closed early, with the closing admin stating that I did some reverts that were not OK because they could be seen as edit warring, but the speedy deletion that I was reverting shouldn't have been placed, and that my edit summary on the last revert was correct. He also stated that there is no indication for an other allegation of edit warring. Another admin also wrote that a indef block for a three year active account would be wrong. Thank You. --Laber□T 18:38, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done. However, we do not usually discuss blocks and nearly given blocks at other projects in great detail. Fact is that you are odds not just with Commons. The most important point would be how you envision your future work at Commons. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 05:16, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Laberkiste!

--Laber□T 15:46, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your VFC installation method is deprecated

[edit]

Hello Laberkiste, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Thanks! --VFC devs (q) 16:23, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request

[edit]
Unblock request declined

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without discussion.

Request reason: "I did request courtesy vanishing using the global rename form. However, the Admin who answered my request told me that I first needed to be unblocked on Commons for them to proceed with my request. Therefore, I request a unblock on Commons. Please note that I do not intend to edit this or any other Wiki again, I just wanted to have my account unblocked for vanishing reasons."
Decline reason: "Courtesy vanishing is simply that. A courtesy given to individuals in good standing. If the protocol for global renamers is to take into account blocks on other projects that is hardly our concern as by definition being indef blocked means you are no longer in good standing. I hardly feel like it is appropriate to unblock someone simply so they can change their name when our blocking policy doesn't list that as a valid reason to lift an otherwise valid block. --Majora (talk) 20:27, 10 February 2019 (UTC)"[reply]

But surely, there must be some way to delete your account on Wikimedia projects?
