I couldn't find a legitimate use for peek/poke. :( I was disappointed, once I finished, that I didn't use a=a+1/goto blah instead of for/next, since that's structured programming, but ... eh ... ~Kylu (u|t) 02:03, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

PEEK and POKE are the dirtiest statements in BASIC, so you SO should have used them... you could have poked the character codes in or something. When's the next Obfuscated BASIC contest again? ++Lar: t/c 03:11, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Funny, I was just talking to a friend earlier about writing compilers. Not something that comes up often in conversations with violinists, y'know? Anyway, he's trying to write a turing-complete language in Brainfuck, while I was describing writing a BASIC compiler in BASIC that actually output .com files instead of (for instance) .obj's.
