There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Ludolf Backhuysen
[edit]I don't mind one awy or another which name is used, provided it's the name generally used and that it's consistently used. As for the category "Paintings by Ludolf Bakhuysen in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam", I don't doubt the truth of the paintings' whereabouts for one moment - what I do have, is the gravest misgivings about trivial categories. I tossed out some yesterday that included "Paintings with arms resting on a table", "Paintings of people with crossed legs" - that sort of nonsense. The problem with that sort of category is that chokes the server machinery at Commons and pretty soon we'll have categories like "Paintings that have been cleaned in the last six months" or "Paintings with red-coloured frames". I leave it to your good judgement. ciao Rotational (talk) 17:42, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- I see your point, over-categorisation is something I am wary of as well. In this case you'll have to take it up User:Vincent_Steenberg, who is categorising the paintings according to their current location. I'll join in if you start a topic at his userpage. Kind regards, Kweniston (talk) 19:52, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
Picture of the year-voting
[edit]Hey! I saw that you (I guess unintentional) voted three times at a picture in the picture of the year-voting. See here. It would be good if you'd remove two of the votes and perhaps checked your other votes for similar mistakes. //moralist (talk) 22:11, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again, just edit the site I linked to: Commons:Picture of the Year 2008/File:SanFrancisco1851a.jpg and remove two of the votes. :) //moralist (talk) 08:37, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Didn't know it was that simple :). Thanks. Kweniston (talk) 18:00, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. :) //moralist (talk) 10:32, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Archive
[edit]User talk:MR.Dantes Archive 1 I did properly archive my talk page you should of looked at my contributions. Mr. Dantes 01:10, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! If you put a link to the archive on your talk page, that would be helpful for people trying to read back your or their comments. Kind regards, Kweniston (talk) 18:18, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
Cornelis Visscher
[edit]It's Cornelis Visscher, not Cornelis de Visscher, according to several sources, including the Rijksmuseum. If you could revert the changes you made, that'd be great. Thanks! Regards, Kweniston (talk) 16:36, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- Done When consolidating all the pictures into one category, I opted for the existing artist template titled "Cornelis de Visscher" [[1]] simply because it was there. Now I've moved all the images to "Cornelis Visscher" [[2]] and linked that category to the template. What do you think? Should the template be deleted? Jdsteakley (talk) 17:32, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- If the name of the template can't be edited, yes I think deletion is the way to go. This will minimize confusion about the correct name in the future. Thanks for your work in this. Kind regards, Kweniston (talk) 11:06, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Timing, eh!
[edit]Thank you very much for uploading File:Slag bij Öland - Battle of Öland in 1676 (Romeyn de Hooghe).jpg. You have no idea how appropriate your timing for that was. I've been doing research on the battle and Kronan and was pondering long and hard how the Hell I was going to get a decent picture of this very engraving. And then you come along and do it for me! :-D It is extremely useful since it shows the progression of the battle step-by-step and is considered quite accurate even by modern Swedish historians. If you have anything else related to early modern naval warfare, particularly in the Baltic, please let me know. I can assist in finding the appropriate articles and meta-info for it.
Again, though, thank you very much.
sincerely,
Peter Isotalo 09:29, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- You're very welcome, glad to be of help! :) I will see what I can find contribute, my main focus is early modern Dutch (naval) warfare. If I upload some Baltic related material of interest, I'll let you know! Thanks for tagging! Kweniston (talk) 00:28, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Hello Kweniston
[edit]How are you ? Regarding the "Renaissance warfare cat", I am " building" it having in mind an article for the french WP about that topic specifically (Renaissance - roughly : 16th) . I intend to use it as a sub-cat for a meta-"(Early) modern era warfare"-category (sic) which would deal with the 17th ( Thirty Years war eg ) and 18th centuries (up to the age of Napoleon ( early 19th ) ??) .. for another article about that more "vast" topic ! Best Regards from Brussels Thib Phil (talk) 23:24, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- DONE ! I just included it as a sub-cat of the "Category:Warfare of the Early Modern era"
- You were fast, as was I, I created a sub cat Category:Early Modern warfare. I am OK with either one. Delete the other. Kind regards! :). Kweniston (talk) 23:35, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, well - I wonder if we can not use the "Category:Early Modern warfare" as a worldwide cat - including ancient Japan and China, Moslims in India, etc. with "Renaissance Warfare" for Europ only - rather than delete it !!!???? What do you thing ??? Thib Phil (talk) 23:48, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
