First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
  • Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Excusez-moi de vous écrire, mais je voudrais vous demander si les files que vous avez markez de deleter immédiatement, sont en mon (notre) possession, peut-ils rester sur les pages? Je travail dans le Musée marqué (Révész István Helytörténeti Múzeum = Musée pour l'Histoire de la ville "Révész István"), le musée est maintené par l'autonomie de la ville Dunakeszi. Les files (images) Örményi László, Villási László et Turhplakat2019 sont possédés par l'autonomie de la ville Dunakeszi, le file "Oszvaldik látványterve" par le musée dont je suis le leader. Qu'est-ce que peux-je faire pour ne pas déléter notre images?

Bonjour. Premièrement vous devez changer le champ Source de Own work à Révész István Helytörténeti Múzeum à chaque fois que cela est nécessaire. Bonjour,

Il y a des images du musée, et aussi des image qui ont été fait par l'autonomie de la ville (mainteneur du musée). L'autonomie me a donné ce travail. Est-ce que l'office du maire doit écrire une permission?

Excusez-moi, mais ce sont mes premiers articles. :-)

Il n'y a pas besoin d'autorisation pour les images du musée car vous êtes libre de les photographier (lre la section "Panorámaszabadság").

Par contre, en ce qui concerne les autres images anciennes, elles sont OK:

  • si elles sont anonymes et qu'elles ont été publiées avant 1943. Dans ce cas, ajouter Anonym et {{PD-HU-unknown}} à la description;
  • si l'auteur est connu et qu'elles ont été publiées 70 ans après la mort de l'auteur. Dans ce cas, ajouter le nom de l'auteur, sa date de décès {{PD-Hungary}} à la description.

Wikimedia Commons does not accept fair use content.

We do this because Commons is a shared media repository. Downstream wikis have different policies based on local laws. Uses that are acceptable under US law, for example, may not be acceptable in many other countries with more restrictive rules.

In addition, fair use is not compatible with our aim as a collection of freely distributable media files.

Therefore, Commons cannot legally rely on fair use provisions.

Non-free content that may be used with reference to fair use may be uploaded locally if your project allows this.
