Authorship of photographs of Artwork

[edit]

Faithful reproductions (without specific creative contribution from the photograph) of 2D art only require a license for the artwork, like {{PD-art}}. In such cases, author is the artist who made the artwork; not the photographer. {{Artwork}}, an alternative to {{Information}} template, can also be used for the description of images of such artworks; especially those residing in museums or galleries. Copyrightable photos of 2D art and photos of 3D art (sculptures, structures, coins, gems, etc.) require a licence for the depicted artwork and a licence for the photograph itself. In such cases, {{Art Photo}} is recommended. Both, author of artwork and author of photograph also need to be mentioned. If {{Information}} is used, both authors can be mentioned in the author field, using Template:Author with appropriate parameters. See here for more information about copyright of the copied artwork.
