Hello, Jwild!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

your uploaded File:WP PT articles as % of total (Oct 2010).png

[edit]

Hello Jwild, I moved it to File:WP PT articles as percent of total (Oct 2010).png. I guess the % sign triggered a bug which resulted in no thumbnail. Now it works. Also for your old name - but if you do not need it under "%" then we can delete this redirect. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 02:43, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Technical contributors side of the "ten things" leaflet

[edit]

Hi! Just saw that you had uploaded one side of the "ten things" leaflet from Wikimania. Do you have the other side as well, the "ten things technical volunteers can do" bit?

I have the text so I could just do the layout again, but if you have it, that'd be great. Sumanah (talk) 16:24, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and if you have the SVG or any other editable version of the layout of either side, that would be lovely, thanks! Sumanah (talk) 16:31, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I hunted this down from Victor, and it looks like Leslie did the same thing with the Technical volunteers leaflet too . I don't have a SVG or editable source, unfortunately. Jwild (talk) 19:18, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, This file rather incomplete (some portion removed while uploading). Please reupload it. This will also help in proper categorization. Regards, Hindustanilanguage (talk) 10:20, 14 December 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Grants presentation

[edit]

Hi Jessie, thanks for uploading your recent presentation on grants: File:Grantmaking Impact Assessment, 2013-14.pdf Good as always to see an update on how the grants programs are evolving. I looked it over and am looking forward to a closer read. I noticed that on p. 4 there's a Peanuts cartoon that's presumably a copyrighted image -- would you be able to upload a new version of the PDF with that image redacted, so it complies with Commons' licensing policy? -Pete F (talk) 23:45, 18 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

AH! good catch. updated :) Jwild (talk) 00:25, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
