Thanks for uploading File:Inner lakes surrounding Mount Azuchi (c. 1928).jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

- I have added licence information. Would you check if the reason by which I had deemed that this photo is under the public domain is appropriate? Jutha DDA (talk) 06:14, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
Hi JuthaDDA, I noticed that you had edited my file Gibson Country Western and SJ acoustic guitars.jpg by cropping out one of the instruments, then replaced the original file with the crop. This is not really the way to do this: if the original file intentionally shows 2 subjects, it should be left that way; crops to show a single subject only can certainly be made but should be uploaded as new files, not overwriting the original. So in this case I have reverted your edit, and uploaded your cropped version (Gibson Country Western only) to a new identity as "Gibson-country-western.jpg" (also created a separate crop for the Gibson Southern Jumbo, as "Gibson-SJ-1963.jpg"). That way, the "parent" file (2 subjects) remains available for those who wish to use it, but gets automatically linked to its 2 "children" as per this statement on the "parent" file page:
File usage on Commons The following 2 pages use this file:
I have left your name in as the creator of the crop for "File:Gibson-country-western.jpg". Hoping this makes sense. Regards - Tony Rees, Australia (original image uploader). Tony 1212 (talk) 22:48, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- PS If you want just the image of the Country Western for your own page elsewhere, you can use the new location for the file, which is "File:Gibson-country-western.jpg|thumb|Gibson-country-western". Tony 1212 (talk) 22:54, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry, I thought I had made a forked version, but I must have overwritten the original version by misoperation with the CropTool. Thank you for reverting my mistake! Jutha DDA (talk) 23:13, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
