Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Copyright tag removal

I assume the part of this edit that removed the valid copyright tag was a mistake for the image I found in Category:Media without a license: needs history check today. Please be more careful when editing such image details because it could well have been deleted for lack of a licence except that I reviewed the history and found the problem. I've readded the tag but you want to review it. Ww2censor (talk) 11:49, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Template for Arab world

Hi Johnuniq!

Can you make a template for Arab world countries? like Template:Countries of Asia?--Rafic.Mufid (talk) 17:34, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

@Rafic.Mufid: I can do the technical stuff but decisions on names are needed. What would the template be called? Perhaps (per en:Arab world) Template:Countries of the Arab world?

@Rafic.Mufid: The first version is at {{Countries of the Arab world}}. My user page has links to relevant modules/templates, as does the documentation displayed when viewing the template. Template:Countries of the Arab world/testcases displays the results of the following, for both the main and the sandbox templates.

• {{Countries of the Arab world}}
• {{Countries of the Arab world|prefix=:Category:}}
• {{Countries of the Arab world|prefix=:Category:2012 in}}

The three results look very similar, but the links go to different pages. Please check the results and let me know of any problems. Johnuniq (talk) 04:25, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

@Rafic.Mufid: The name displayed for a country comes from its Wikidata item, so an edit at Wikidata can display junk. Looking at the history for d:Q79 shows that an IP changed the label to "Egypt syria" but was reverted an hour later. If you see a problem now, please try purging the page. Again an error/trolling

Hey Johnuniq, just look at this one i created now "Category:October 2007 Egypt photographs", the name of Egypt seem bold as "Mexico"!--Rafic.Mufid (talk) 23:46, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

That was due to this vandalism at Wikidata. Someone reverted the vandal and I purged Category:October 2007 Egypt photographs so "Egypt" is now correctly shown. The way to find how to fix problems like that is to look at the first paragraph for any of the "Countries of" templates, for example, Template:Countries of Asia. It has advice to handle "name of a country is incorrect". Johnuniq (talk) 02:14, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Countries template with invalid parameters has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.
