RE:Sakkola coat of arms licensing
[edit]I used the template because the file is a coat of arms of the Finnish municipality of Sakkola and it's in PD according to Finnish copyright law and opinion of the Finnish Copyright Council. Cheers!, --Elisardojm (talk) 11:08, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for your answer. In fact the file is not an official coat of arms of a Finnish municipality, and it is not PD according to Finnish copyright law. See discussion here. Apparently the fi-wiki file had a false PD template. --Jmk (talk) 11:12, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- I see, then I'll request the deletion of the file, thank you by your warning. Cheers!, --Elisardojm (talk) 11:19, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! Certainly the mistake was not your fault, since there was a PD template in the fi-wiki file. (I have now removed at least some of those false templates from this and other fi-wiki files concerning Finnish ex-municipalities.) --Jmk (talk) 11:23, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
Help with image in fi.wiki
[edit]Hi!, I need help with a imaxe from fi.wiki, could you help me? We found this image and we wanted to copy it to Commons but there is a copyright advertisement that we don't understand. Could we copy the image to Commons using the PD-shape template? We understand that the file only contains simple geometrical forms and this makes it in public domain, but if in Finland there is any legislation about this theme it couldn't be in Commons... Thanks in advance!, --Elisardojm (talk) 11:29, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
- Well, the copyright advertisement claims that it is a copyrighted logo, and that it is being used in fi-wiki on a "fair use" basis. So, according to that advertisement the image could not be copied to Commons. But of course the advertisement might be in error. I'll try to find out. --Jmk (talk) 08:19, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, we wanted to know if the advertisement could be incorrect in this situation. Bye, --Elisardojm (talk) 08:26, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
