Goodies, tips, and tricks Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities. You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads. Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Hi Jester, please set your language to Italian and you will see File:Grevo_mosaico.jpg in Italian. Also a user from it.wikipedia will see it in Italian and a User from the es.wikipedia will see it in Spanish. Thats internationalization and it is very good. --Martin H. Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Ciao Jester. Grazie per aver caricato delle foto su Grevo. Mi sono permesso di "risistemarle", in modo da renderle più fruibili e evitare che la gente (vedi qui sopra) si lagni. Ti dò un paio di consigli pratici:

• La Categoria. In basso, quando carichi una foto, dovesti metterci una o più categorie, in modo tale che sia più facile trovare le tue foto. Vedo che hai operato in valle camonica, quindi sfrutta pure la catalogazione che trovi qui: Category:Val Camonica. Le foto che hai caricato su Grevo sono finite, ad esempio nella categoria Category:Grevo e Category:Churches in Grevo
• L' own. Quando carichi una foto sostituisci la scritta "Opera creata e caricata dall'autore (own work by uploader)" con quella "Own work". Questo fa sì, come dice il tizio qua sopra, che anche chi non conosce l'inglese nè l'italiano, attraverso una traduzione automatica, riesca a capire la proprietà dello scatto.
• Il Locator. In ogni foto ti consiglio di inserire questa stringa {{Location|46|04|04.27|N|10|21|13.67|E|region:IT_type:landmark}} e sostituire i numeri delle coordinati con il luogo che hai fotografato. Aiuta a capire dove si trova il soggetto nell'immagine (ed io è una vita che voglio sapere dov'è san fiorano!!). I numeri li trovi facilmente usando il programma google-earth: passando con il mouse sui luoghi in basso ti compaiono le coordinate.

The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Jester88~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.

Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
