Thank you for your contributions. Your image or other content was recently deleted, or will soon be deleted, in accordance with our process and policies, because it was not, or is not, within our scope. Please review our project scope, but in short, Commons is targeted at educational media files including photographs, diagrams, animations, music, spoken text and video clips. The expression “educational” is to be understood according to its broad meaning of “providing knowledge; instructional or informative”. Wikimedia Commons does not contain text articles like encyclopedia articles, textbooks, news, word definitions and such. Each of these other kinds of content have their own projects: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wiktionary and Wikiquote. If the content seems to fit the scope of one of those other projects, please consider contributing it there. Otherwise, consider an alternative outlet. If you think that the deletion was in error because the contribution really was in scope, you can appeal it at Commons:Undeletion requests, giving a reason why it fits our scope to help others evaluate the matter. Thank you for your understanding.

I'm smart and don't get it.

[edit]

I got a message that I am blocked indefinitely from Wiki Commons. I don't know why. This is an unfriendly reception for my first upload. I thought Wiki was democratic. I feel most unwelcome. I know it's not me, but a policy. I didn't think Wiki makes people feel bad but this is my experience so far. Maybe someone can explain what great thing I did wrong to be blocked. I can see my upload being deleted if it doesn't fit. What is ironic is that I wanted to upload on wikipedia and I got a message my material belongs on Wiki Commons.

Apologies - templates are rather unfriendly - I reversed the block almost the moment I made it as I realised I was wrong. The scope of this project is simply media for use elsewhere. A tiff file which is simply a text bio is not necessary as it is text and so can be typed in without any copyright issues. Your user page - while maybe interesting - was completely outside our scope. Articles - if appropriate - should be on Wikipedia. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 07:49, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Plus - I am watching this page so feel free to post here if you wish and I will see it and respond. --Herby talk thyme 07:57, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
