CERN

Aloha! :) Did you ever hear back from CERN regarding this discussion? --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 00:30, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

No, I'm afraid not. — Cheers, JackLee talk 17:05, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Darn. Well, we gotta think of something. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 18:46, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
You could try emailing them again ... — Cheers, JackLee talk 22:52, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
I knew you'd say that. :) Alright, I shoot an email to CERN. They probably use it to make some Higgs-Bosons out of it. :)) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 23:48, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Email sent. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 01:29, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

:) Haven't really thought about this issue for a long time, but if you don't receive a proper reply after, say, six weeks, I guess a decision should be made about what to do with the older files. Even if CERN no longer wishes to license its content freely, at least they could tell us when they changed their website to remove the free licence. — Cheers, JackLee talk 07:49, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

That's what I asked CERN to do. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 20:18, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Aerial view of the Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore - 20120902.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Graphics Lab Request

You may have forgotten that you made it by this point, but I've made a start on your request at the Graphics Lab, and I could use some more information if you can provide it. Thanks! NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 00:23, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

I've updated most of the files and replied on my userspace. NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 19:03, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Found this, and also Category:Meles meles (dead). The latter seems more specific to European badgers but also contains stuffed badgers (as in taxidermy). Would it be an idea to merge these and split the stuffed ones into a subcategory? Cheers. Rodhullandemu (talk) 15:58, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Wow, I totally don't remember creating this category. Yes, it's probably best to merge this into "Meles meles (dead)" and have a subcategory "Meles meles in taxidermy" (or whatever the proper naming convention for taxidermy categories is). — Cheers, JackLee talk 09:45, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Reason for deleting image on St johns island?

Hi, Pls let me know the reasons for deleting the said image. Also where can i refer to it.. i couldn't find any message prior to deletion. As far as i remember, i have taken the image and uploaded it. So let me know which copyright i had violated. Thanks.Thaejas (talk) 00:47, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading the file. Unfortunately, the file contained an unlicensed derivative work in the form of the map on the signboard. The map is an artistic work and the copyright in that artistic work is not owned by you, so even though you took the photograph and own the copyright in it, in order for the photograph to be hosted on the Commons we would need the copyright owner of the map (probably the Government of Singapore) to also license the copyright in the map under a free licence. — Cheers, JackLee talk 07:24, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Your botrequests?

If yes, pls add a valid reason and a signature. Regards --Steinsplitter (talk) 18:12, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

They're not bot requests; I typed them manually. I don't run any bots. Since they were all by me (the same editor) and have the same reason, I gave the reason for the requests at the end of the block of requests. Isn't that sufficient? — Cheers, JackLee talk 18:16, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
Request for catmoves by bot then... No, it is confusing, the bot is ignoring all requests with nor reason by default. --Steinsplitter (talk) 18:19, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
Oh, I see. Hmmm. After you removed the requests and I put them back, I added "ditto". Is that enough? — Cheers, JackLee talk 18:31, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

Your category "move"

Hi Jacklee, by that action you pretend it was your own work, what it is not. Please fix that. --.js (talk) 16:22, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

I'm sorry, what is it you would like me to do? — Cheers, JackLee talk 16:53, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
I fixed it. @Jacklee: you can use the "move" tab to move category's. :) --Steinsplitter (talk) 16:59, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks. — Cheers, JackLee talk 17:03, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

etc. Thank you for your interest in the Peace Palace Library some time ago! However, you changed the category names chosen by the donor (Peace Palace Library) of more than 2000 fine images. I hesitate(d) to change it back. For instance, PPL regards their books as 1 collection.

  • Could you please next time discuss major changes beforehand? (Even when your changes might be actual improvements, you impacted on a GLAM-project). Thanks, Hansmuller (talk) 12:09, 18 November 2014 (UTC) , wikipedian in residence Peace Palace Library April - May 2014.
Ah, I see. Well, it would have helped if there had been a note on the category or category talk pages. Anyway, thanks for letting me know. — Cheers, JackLee talk 16:17, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
