Normally I would not respond to messages like these (as is clearly stated above), but I will once more try to make a point (as an exception). I uploaded this image about 15 years ago. For some reason it is now being listed for deletion. Usually these deletions cite that there is no Freedom of Panorama in France. But it is entirely unclear what that means. On 7 October 2016, the French parliament approved a law recognizing a limited version of the freedom of panorama that authorizes the reproduction by individuals (not organizations) of buildings and sculptures permanently located in public space, but only for non-commercial utilizations. The legal question is in fact wether the uploader (who is an individual) is the one who is reproducing a picture or wether Wikipedia is an organisation which reproduces the image even though it is not for commercial reasons. In my mind Wikipedia does not reproduce the picture but displays it, but the lawyers (I have no idea if this editor is a lawyer and even so does he/she/they know how to interpret this law?) would probably argue that that is the same. If this deletion suggestion had been made before 7 October 2016, it would have been a different matter. If the problem is that this file should not be in the Commone but in Wikipedia itself, just port it.

I can only suggest that if you have the chance go to Père Lachaise yourself and go look at this beautiful monument yourself.

And as far as these deletion suggestions go: in the past I have given my POV, but I do not think anybody has read them. I have no desire to break the law, but in my mind uploading is usually a waste of my time because some editors interpret the law even though they not understand it, so I no longer upload images.
