File:Malettke-austritt.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

- Moin! Der Urheber des Briefes muss eine Freigabe erteilen. Siehe OTRS. Es besteht zudem die Frage ob diese Datei in den Rahmen von Commons fällt. Siehe dazu Com:Scope. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 08:39, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
Copyright status and correct license templates for scans of old works
[edit]Hi Jürgen Nemitz (HSP), I noticed your edits in File:KH v.Tob.Mayer Handakten Williardts 50 Doppelseite 8.jpg where we have a scan of some drawings created by Creator:Tobias Mayer in 1737. This work is in the public domain per pma70 since considerable time. Hence, neither the license templates {{Cc-zero}} [1] nor CC BY-NC-SA 2.0 DE [2] nor {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} [3] apply as such licenses can be granted by the copyright holder only as long as there is one. A scan or a reproductive photo of a two-dimensional work of art is not considered to have a copyright on its own, see Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag and Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag. In cases where we know the death year of the author (like in this case), we use {{PD-old-auto}} and I have fixed the file description accordingly. A summary about licensing at Commons is to be found at Commons:Licensing, copyright tags are listed at Commons:Copyright tags. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 07:45, 18 February 2017 (UTC)
