Coat of Arms of the Federation of South Arabia
[edit]Thanks for making an svg version of the Coat of Arms of the Federation of South Arabia. There are, however two important corrections to be made:
- The Jambiya shold be in natural colors and the end of its sheath should be a bit smaller. You can check "Category:Jambiyas", although there are not many there.
- The stars in the flags below should be inside the crescent, not between the tips.
Thank you again. User:Xufanc
- Is this OK? image:Coat of Arms of the Federation of South Arabia.svg Inductiveload (talk) 22:07, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, thank you for the quick correction. What do you think of a paler yellow in the stripes of the flag to make its colors more contrasting?User:Xufanc
- Personally, I don't think that is necessary. Feel free to change it yourself if you disagree. It's a PD image, after all! Regards, --Inductiveload (talk) 08:33, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Regarding an Error
[edit]It is only a simple labeling mistake, I believe. There is no transistor M3, although I do see M5's evil twin brother. However, I'd still appreciate its correction whenever you find yourself idle; it caused me a great deal of confusion for a moment when trying to grasp the principle of SRAM. Seeing as I find your work quite articulate, I thought I would take the liberty of complimenting you on some other prominent graphics while I had a chance; the quantum wave function diagrams look particularly intricate.

- Sorry about that - making silly mistakes is my forté it seems. Thanks for the compliment, and the heads up - it's nice to know someone is looking closely at things! Inductiveload (talk) 05:50, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 15:31, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

About deletion requests File:WikipediaOfflineIcon32.gif
[edit]Hi Inductiveload, I already state my vote and my point of view about the deletion, please go to Commons:Deletion requests/File:WikipediaOfflineIcon32.gif. Oh yeah, if you want to know more about the history why I need a deletion process to that image, so let me know, and I will tell it to you in this talk page. Okay? Ivan Akira (talk) 10:28, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- OK, I read the NfD page, changed my stance to a vote-delete. Best, Inductiveload (talk) 12:37, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

555 Astable diagram
[edit]Nice work on the "555 Astable diagram.svg"! There is a small error, though: in the astable mode the THRESHOLD pin (6) should be connected to the TRIGGER pin (2), not to the DISCHARGE pin (7).
- Well that was a dumb mistake. Thanks for pointing it out. Inductiveload (talk) 16:42, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons does not accept fair use content.
We do this because Commons is a shared media repository. Downstream wikis have different policies based on local laws. Uses that are acceptable under US law, for example, may not be acceptable in many other countries with more restrictive rules. In addition, fair use is not compatible with our aim as a collection of freely distributable media files. Therefore, Commons cannot legally rely on fair use provisions. Non-free content that may be used with reference to fair use may be uploaded locally if your project allows this.

Software used to create tilings
[edit]Hi. Could yo describe the software you used to create your Penrose tiling images? Thanks. SharkD (talk) 00:49, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, I used Inkscape, a vector-graphics editor which works on Windows, Linux and Mac. If you carefully consider the rotations and snap to the nodes precisely enough, the pieces just snap into place. Inkscape has a way of rotating by an exact angle, and it has a tool to create exact polygons. It is easiest in my experience to begin with the regular polygons and build up the pieces from there.
- Remember, all my images of Penrose Tilings are public domain, so you can copy and paste elements out of my drawings. Attribution would be nice, but is not required. Alternatively, post any requests here and I will get round to them ASAP. Inductiveload (talk) 20:45, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. BTW, have you tried GeoGebra? It can export as SVG too. It's a little buggy, but maybe not more so than Inkscape. SharkD (talk) 00:08, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Could you please check it, specifically the appearance of focus pot. It displays properly here but disappears in full window view. The first version of the file diplays OK. NVO (talk) 00:51, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
- The focus pot appears OK for me. The fact that the Commons renderer and my browser (Opera 10) can both see it implies that your browser's SVG support is dodgy. Try upgrading the browser and see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise drop me a note here and maybe a screenshot at Imageshack and I'll take a closer look in a couple of days when I get home. Thanks for the heads up, Inductiveload (talk) 03:54, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Thank you so much, time to move them...

Commons-Dump
[edit]Hi Inductiveload, thank you for your Commons-Dump of Wilhelm Lauches pears.--Symposiarch (talk) 09:22, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'm glad you like them! I am only halfway through the pear series, and I will do the apple series if I have time. Inductiveload (talk) 15:01, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- I suppose you dont have scans of the text? Scans are necessary for books on de:wikisource. --Robot Monk (talk) 19:57, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- No, but at the de:WS Skriptorium, I gave links to the resource at Wageningen UR Digital Libraries "Special Collection", which has the full text as well as the images that I've already moved to Commons. Inductiveload (talk) 20:15, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, but it is a basic rule on s:de, that all texts must be provided with scans of original books. Regards, --Robot Monk (talk) 20:39, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know that! I didn't mean to cause a problem. Delete the pages then. Seems a shame to lose this book, but I suppose the rule is for the integrity of the s:de project! Regards, − Inductiveload (talk) 23:22, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hi together, I suppose like Inductiveload that this rule is only for the s:de project. It is nice to have the text, but not mandatory!--Symposiarch (talk) 09:53, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, the s:en project does not require a scan (but of course it is always good to have one if possible!) The Germans have a particularly tight set of rules. Inductiveload (talk) 12:36, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm confused
[edit]Do you want this to be deleted? Or were you just fixing it? Killiondude (talk) 21:40, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- I was changing it to an NfD from a Speedy. I didn't want to just remove the Speedy template unilaterally so I moved it to NfD for discussion. It has now been kept. :-) − Inductiveload (talk) 03:52, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
