Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

MuPad plots
[edit]Hey, about the MuPad plots, I'd be happy to help out !
I don't know what communication method fits you best, I quite like instant messaging (I use MSN Messenger), I think it would be easier. If you prefer something else, say so !
(On a side note, you're not a "pain" at all, I love doing mathematics and helping others in mathematics when I can (usually it's the others who help me !).)
Oh and by the way, if you could answer on my wikipedia page ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Sam_Derbyshire ), otherwise I might just lose track of the discussion :p
- Xedi/Sam (no account on Commons) (February 14th)
Hey hey, I see you're active, please answer !

- I just use Inkscape. Ttry writing & gt; (without the space) instead of > and & lt; (without the space) instead of <. Half the time for me, text doesn't work at all on Wikimedia unless I convert to outlines.
- 15:12, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Anyone know why text deosn't work??
[edit]Does any one know why my SVGs always render wrong unless I convert the text to outlines? Even if i use a basic font like Arial or Courier, it still won't work.

Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and or licensing of this particular file. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? Thank you. --Klein bottle
[edit]Your Klein bottle images have now been included in [1]. Excellent job! --Chanho 09:20, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
MuPAD Plots
[edit]There was a long discussion about plotting techniques here, with many good ideas, tricks and tips. Due to it's length, I have put it on its own page.
Request to Screws you made
[edit]Hi can you plz make 2 svg for me for https://www.pbswisstools.com/en/tools/quality-hand-tools/special-tools/product/pb-8197v-10 use plz your system with the ring, white white, on pb the inner is black https://static.pbswisstools.com/fileadmin/_processed_/3/5/csm_SYM_PRF_ROUND-NUT__SALL__AING__V1_e7ff55e1a6.png and Pozidriv/slotted since you made all others https://www.pbswisstools.com/en/tools/quality-hand-tools/vde-and-elektronics-screwdrivers/product/pb-581801-80 use plz your system with the ring, white white, on pb the inner is black https://static.pbswisstools.com/fileadmin/_processed_/9/2/csm_SYM_PRF_PZ-SLOT__SALL__AING__V1_b1736e573f.png your https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0c/Screw_Head_-_Phillips_Combo.svg + https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f9/Screw_Head_-_Pozidrive.svg give Pozidriv/slotted — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.202.49.163 (talk • contribs) 23:02, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
- Here you go:
- I didn't understand your request with the colours for the tyre valve one ("with the ring, white white"), but I used the normal standard: black is a depressed area, white is a raised area. The PB Tools page is slightly inaccurate as a real valve stem has flat sides, e.g. File:Ventileinsatz KFZ Rad.jpg. Inductiveload (talk) 23:31, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
that was fast, thx very much you are correct the way you done with area black, i saw after i posted i was wrong. I downloaded some svg from the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_screw_drives and your 2 additional swg fits perfects for me, thanks again, its for my tools collection list
Hi, i have 2 more if you maybe please also can make. There a svg File from Wera Tools avaiable
https://products.wera.de/images/downthrust/filter/micro_stix.svgz
https://products.wera.de/images/downthrust/filter/micro_stix_active.svgz
and
https://products.wera.de/images/downthrust/filter/assy_active.svgz
https://products.wera.de/images/downthrust/filter/assy.svgz
and for the Valve Stem you made, theres a Round hole in middle for the Pin in the Tool, must be that not in the svg also like the security torx hole?
many thanks if you find time.
- Here you go. I redrew the vectors to tidy them up (especially the MicroStix one was not very symmetrical). And added a circle on the valve stem above.
wow Thanks very much.
Inkscape
[edit]Hi, I'm new to inkscape and I've seen in your emblems (like this one) that has a white glow at the top left, how do I do that? I tried making a circle with a circle gradient of white to transparent but it didn't work. User:Anpang01 07:14, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Anpang01 In this exact case, the circle itself has the gradient from pale blue to dark blue (see here: phab:F34902777). But a semi-transparent white to transparent radial gradient on the top layer should work too. Inductiveload (talk) 14:17, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oh. Thank you! User:Anpang01 02:03, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

iltools repo on Phabricator
[edit]Hello Inductiveload,
I would like to talk to you about the git repository "iltools" hosted on phabricator.wikimedia.org. Do you use that? Would it be ok with you if I disabled pushing via SSH if you could still push via https and I have docs how to do that? Would you maybe be interested in moving to gitlab.wikimedia.org? You can also reach me on IRC under the same name. Best, Mutante (talk) 20:37, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Mutante sure, feel free. I would rather have used gitlab originally, but it wasn't open for sign up at the time. If it's open now, I'll just move the repo. Inductiveload (talk) 22:26, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- Repo now moved: https://gitlab.wikimedia.org/inductiveload/iltools Inductiveload (talk) 16:42, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- Wow, this is much more than expected. You already moved!:) And it looks you were able to import the whole thing from the git URL (via https?) and it imported the history? Did you do this with the web UI wizard or did you manually use git to mirror it? Either way, thank you! And what I just did on Phabricator was to disable http and ssh for that repo. I kept https active for right now. What do you think is best? Should it stay up but readonly? Do you want to make a last commit that says it was moved over and THEN we make it readonly? Should I just disable or even delete it? Either would work for me. Let me know and thank you! Mutante (talk) 18:09, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

Generic Placeholder SVG
[edit]Hi, I saw you created File:Generic placeholder page.djvu (and jpg and pdf versions), with the description saying it was created in Inkscape. Any chance you could upload the original svg if you still have it? I was hoping to create a similar file based on it, and thought it would be easier than trying to replicate it in Inkscape myself. Thanks! ‑‑YodinT 15:06, 12 March 2022 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:The Asiatic Quarterly Review - Series 1, Volume 2.djvu
[edit]Copyright status: File:The Asiatic Quarterly Review - Series 1, Volume 2.djvu
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:The Asiatic Quarterly Review - Series 1, Volume 2.djvu. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Missing Manshu maps
[edit]Hi there, I see that you recreated a map from the original set and are a WikiSource administrator. Does this mean you have access to the deleted maps? Could you please email them to me? Could you perhaps re-create the others? The list is over here. Pratyeka (talk) 21:16, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- I can, but you will need to reply to the email I just sent so I can reply back with the files. FYI, I did offer to do this back in October, at your Wikisource user page but you didn't reply. I sadly don't have time to recreate the others right now, due to real-life concerns, but I will try to do it "one day", unless you get there first! Inductiveload (talk) 21:25, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
Great Pics, One spell
[edit]Hi Inductiveload, I was just looking at the Besssel function page and thought that the plots were especially clean and nice, so I clicked on the user name to see the contributor. You. (I will be doing some plotting for some book writing project, so I am taking notice of quality plots.) Not to spoil the compliment but on your page you say, about books, "The whole concept explained form start to finish." I am dyslexic as heck, but my brain catches these small typos so I thought I would let you know. (from not form). My purpose was merely to send a little praise on the style/quality of the pics. -- Mlee Mlee (talk) 07:02, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Ear .SVG
[edit]Hello, I'm a frequent user of Wikipedia since forever and a more recent dabbler in Inkscape. I just wanted to say thank you specifically for the file you vectorised involving the human ear and its parts. I'm starting an Obsidian Vault where I gather lots of information about topics I wish to learn and others that my high-schooler self had a hard time getting his head around and that I want to give myself as a 30 yo a new chance to understand. For example, science and the mechanisms that make the human body work. That's where I picked your file and adapted it to my own needs. Your work is great, keep it up! By the way, I'm sorry if anything in this message sounds a bit off. I have a fair command of English, yet I can't escape the fact it is not my native language. 186.189.77.127 22:55, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
