Hi Iifar, thanks a lot for your comment on File:Sonoma Coast, near Gleason Beach.jpg (quality image candidates). I actually didn't notice that the horizon was tilted that much. It's one of my favorite places along the Sonoma coast and I really enjoyed taking that picture. So, thank you so much again, --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 16:27, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled flag

[edit]

Hi Iifar, I have given you the autopatrol flag (i.e. your contribution won't have any red mark ! and will be automatically marked as patrolled), I think you are a user that can be trusted and that you know the basics of our licensing policies (basically you use the good license tag or pd tag when needed). Best regards, --PierreSelim (talk) 15:01, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Iifar,
I thank you very much for your numerous and lenient reviews of my pictures.
You made a very interesting comment on this one, and you were right.
Would you please be kind enough to have another look ? I've reworked it, and I hope you will find it fine now (I'm trying Lightroom4 as postprocessing software, very interesting but a bit difficult at beginning !)
If it does not work for you, no problem for me, feel free to decline, of course.
BtW, congratulations for your own pictures in general, they make your country very interesting to me, but... they are already promoted when I review !!
Regards from Paris, --Jebulon (talk) 22:09, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to thank you for your reviews, however, I'm pretty much of a commons newbie and I simply can't fix some stuff, so I just withdrew one more nomination. Anyway, every review helps me in general. Thanks a lot! -Barras (talk) 14:33, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for going contrary to the policy of featured photos nominations. I'll reduce the number i've submitted to 2. In fact, I don't know of that though. But i think ignorance isn't an excuse.

Thanks

Hello my dear (and watchful) friend from Estonia !
Don't you like the spanish sun ? :)
By magnifying at 400%, I've understood where you saw color banding.
I've tried to reduce this by less contrast in the sky, it is not perfect.
I've made some corrections around the vane in foreground, but I don't see what I could do for the vane in background, I've corrected a bit all around the roof.
I hope it is better but now, there is nothing more I could do in order to improve again this picture, I'm sorry. So it will stay as it is.
Anyway, I thank you very much for your useful reviews, even if it made me work very hard !!
Kind regards from Paris, friendly, --Jebulon (talk) 23:44, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to say I like your macro pics very much. They're beautiful and they hold a high encyclopaedic value. Go on with the good job!

On a different matter, if you live anywhere near Tallinn and are not adverse to sports photography, there's a famous fencing event taking place in the city, the Glaive de Tallinn. All top-ranking epee fencers attend the event, including of course Estonian fencers who as you may know rank amongst the best in the world. Mõned küsimused spetsialistile

[edit]
  • Millistel teadusfoto võistlusele laekunud piltidel võiks olla potentsiaali saada eeskujuliku pildi märge?
  • Kas sealse Pavese seeria müürlooga trihhoomidest võiks esitada seeriana FP kandidaatideks? Kas neid pilte saab käsitleda kui "Featured pictures of Estonia"?
  • Millised HELP4 pildikogumisele laekunud fotod on sinu hinnangul parimad? St millised oleksid võimalikud eeskujulikud pildid?
  • Mul oleks tarvilik valida 3 parimat HELP4 pildilisajat. Kes tegid sinu hinnangul parimat tööd?

Ehk leiad mahti mõnele vastata :) Kruusamägi (talk) 23:47, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ivar, as you can see it I was able to take advantage a few of colors of the autumn. I shall like that you give me your opinion onto the edition of this photo, I downloaded two versions, is the last the better? Christian Ferrer (talk) 10:52, 8 December 2013 (UTC

Eeskujulikest piltidest

[edit]

--Ivar (talk) 07:08, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ivar, ping @Kruusamägi: too, there is a lot of images in Natural, and for easy navigation and understanding I am creating galleries for countries which have several dozens of images. I wanted, and started, to sort images by counties for the Estonian gallery, but it's hard for me to understand the langage and very hard to find the counties for each image. I wanted to ask on Estonian langage village pump but I was not able to find it, is there a village pump in Estonian on Commons? Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 15:41, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there are not that many Estonians around here. Besides me and Iifar the more active ones should be Taivo, WikedKentaur, Quibik and Flying Saucer.
I can set some of them into appropriate categories and I'd assume other can easily help here. Kruusamägi (talk) 16:16, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Great! thank you! Christian Ferrer (talk) 16:24, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign for User:The Photographer

[edit]

Please excuse me spamming you. As a regular on Feature Picture Candidatess you will recognise User:The Photographer, who has 86 Featured Pictures. His contributions cover the architecture and culture of Brazil and Venezuela. He has basic photographic equipment: an old D300 camera and 35mm lens, and lives in a poor country where photographic equipment is expensive. The Photographer has recently taken several images using the technique where multiple frames are stitched together to create a high-resolution panorama. However, many times frustrated with the stitching errors that result from trying to take such photos without a proper panoramic head for his tripod. This special equipment permits the camera to be rotated around the entrance pupil of the lens, and eliminates such errors. Having a panoramic head would greatly increase the potential for The Photographer to create sharp high-resolution images for Commons. In addition, the purchase of a fisheye lens would enable 180 × 360° panoramas to be taken, which are a great way to explore a scene as though one is really there.

Please see the discussion about the Crowd-funding campaign on User talk:The Photographer#Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign and visit the Generosity Crowd-funding Campaign page to consider donating. Even a modest donation will make a difference if many people contribute. Thanks. -- Colin (talk) 13:25, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lamium purpureum

[edit]

Hi, is it possible that this Image File:Lamium purpureum - verev iminõges Keilas.jpg shows Lamium amplexicaule or Lamium confertum? The corolla tube looks suspiuciously long. Nice images btw. Regards --Aiwok (talk) 19:23, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Aiwok: Servus! Very interesting question, I had to do some research to answer it. First, we can rule out Lamium confertum, because it doesn't grow in Estonia. Now we have to find main difference between similar species of L. amplexicaule and L. purpureum. This wasn't too hard to find. L. purpureum has stalked leaves, while L. amplexicaule has unstalked leaves. Specimen on my photo has definitely stalked leaves, so it must be Lamium purpureum. Best regards! --Ivar (talk) 19:54, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Tere, thanks for searching. The leaf stalks of L. amplexicaule look different indeed. Apparently this specimen is just somehow more slenderly build than those red deadnettles I've seen before. Regards--Aiwok (talk) 23:05, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

background on current FPC of thistles

[edit]

Hi there. I know it is always tricky asking questions about photographic technique and subsequent procesing but as a fellow photographer I am curious as to how you find your yellow/orange backgrounds in nature. We all do significant post-prosessing (and leave the evidence!), but I wonder how you do it? I know somew photographers here in the UK who use a painted backboard to produce a neutral background, but I've never tried that technique. Best wishes. Charles (talk) 09:34, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Charlesjsharp: short answer is: yellowish background plants at "golden hour" are the best conditions for this kind of shooting. Good luck! --Ivar (talk) 11:10, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. But you'll need to alter the time clock on your camera. Doesn't show golden hour! I marked the image where there seems to be a processing error, which is why I wondered about the original background. By the way, we found Estonia to be a beautiful and friendly place earlier this year. Charles (talk) 11:39, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Charlesjsharp: I haven't checked camera time for ages, but calculator (http://www.golden-hour.com/) shows the golden hour started on 11. august at my latitude at 20:24. And it doesn't always have to be exactly golden hour time, because even 1 hour earlier is the light much warmer than on a midday time. Only processing with that image was selective denoising and sharpening, so there is no postprocessing error. --Ivar (talk) 11:59, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Charles (talk) 12:03, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your name along with a link to the original file and the CC license will be cited in the picture index (sorted by page number and picture order)

Although the license allows to use the picture in the described way, I nevertheless wanted to know whether it is ok if we use these pictures?

I would be happy if you could sent me a short answer!

Wiki Loves Earth 2021

[edit]

Hallo Iifar,
